I was abused by Sue Phillips. She was cruel and always called me stupid and a idiot. I'm not either of these. Breaks were only a half hour after 9 hours of working. I wasnt allowed to use the restroom for the first 2 weeks i was there and due to that i had kidney stones and blatter infections. She had a hazardous store as well. There wasnt a sprinkler system nor a straight path to fire exits. There was a rat infestation i found a few in the store around food it was really gross i have some pictures of the store where the fire hazards were appropriate.

I can't believe what I am reading here. I sincerely believe that Melissa was bullied in no small way by sugarcraft (which must have bullied her while she worked there) to "retract" her statements. After quite awhile, I can't understand why in earth she would up and say its not true unless she was forced to do so. Dolores, in my opinion, YOU are the liar and a sociopath. I can't imagine how many people you have skrewed over in your life, but I really hope someday that you look internally for the source of all of these issues, and evolve.

I was a customer of this business until I had reason to speak with the owner/manager.  She treats her customers the same way.  I will never shop there again.

First note from Dolores in reply to Melissa's complaint:
"She is now being sued for this slander. We owe it to our reputation. Our lawyers will contact her with a court date."

Last note:
"About the lawsuit: I am NOT suing Melissa and never had. This has nothing to do with her at all."

Case in point, they can't keep their story straight.

It is hard to know with the internet whether these complaints are hoaxes or slander but with this many they can't possibly all be wrong! Regardless of this, Sugarcraft makes it hard to believe this by their comments. Their responses might be believable if it were not for the overwhelming amount of customer complaints all over the internet about the same problems, and their constant insistence that the company is always right and the people complaining are very wrong and stupid, crooks or 'bad people'.

Phrases like 'bad people' are very unprofessional, especially when used in the official terms of service!

Their responses and correspondences with customers are in general very immature, giving the general impression that they don't care about anyone and would rather not have their business than deal with any problem. I mean, this sort of thing is funny when it's in the context of a comedy but in real life we do not expect these sort of business people to make it for very long.

Hm, I only see one word spelled wrong in Melissa's note! I'm sure the eloquent Sugarcraft representative will tell me I cannot spell either if I cannot spot her mistakes, but I checked with a spell checker just out of curiosity. How childish to harp on a little typo as proof of a person's ignorance.

If we are going to talk about spelling, in my experience it is the customer service of sugarcraft who cannot spell, every e-mail I received during our mercifully short interaction had many errors in grammar and spelling, enough to be confusing until I could figure out what they actually meant to say.

So is Dolores the president or the customer service representative? The same person? If the company is that small how is it likely that a $3000 order is 'just pennies' to her?  http://www.cheftalk.com/forum/thread/42380/sugarcraft-com-horrible-customer-service-experience

I see her sign this rebuttal as the president and elsewhere I see people say she was their customer service representative.

Rebuttal to bad comments about Sugarcraft

#17REBUTTAL Owner of company

Fri, October 26, 2007

About the lawsuit: I am NOT suing Melissa and never had. This has nothing to do with her at all. What she said was not true and she retracted it. (The person who wrote above would like for you to think it is about her). Sugarcraft IS suing a certain fellow business which seems to have decided Sugarcraft is a threat and to single handidly put us out of business. I wasn't paying attention until someone there brought it to my attention. My lawyer LOVED all the evidence he gathered from these bad people.

It started a year or more ago which I was totally unaware of (until I saw the message post dates) after some emails from a few friends told me. They've been nice to collected evidence for me. I sent the owner of this company proof - exact, that several posts about our company were lies. He chose to post my email publicly, which is illegal in itself. But he 'conveniently' left out the entire gist of the email concerning the proof I sent him with proof of the lies posted. He had promised - to begin with that he would look into it if I would email him of the problem...in reply is what he posted. Since I sued, another message board owner came in our store locally, to thank us for suing. They had a similar run-in with this bad person. Several emailed to thank me also.

Other message boards including my own, do not ever slam other companies. I saw where these bad people tried this on other boards and got cut. Our message board at www.sugarcraft.org deals with topics of cake decorators. Never gossip or attempting to hurt other businesses or people.

As for the BBB, we are not members so they don't deal with us on complaints. Anyone should be smart enough to know there are two sides to any story. And of the 20-30 complaints since 1980 when we opened, and having sent out millions of packages to very satisfied customers for the past 27 years, 20-30 complaints aren't so bad at all. The pwner of the website we are suing is using the BBB against us. It is far too time consuming to have BBB referee problems when, even if solved, they don't post that part and leave the complaint on forever. Soon, people will catch on, then I wonder what confidence the consumer will have in them! BBB banks on all consumer complaints being the gospel truth.

As for problems with Sue (comment above-from that message board by the way), rude people usually don't get too far anywhere they go, with handling anything in their favor. We do our best to please, but when people like the person above, call cussing us, we don't feel very friendly to help them.

Please! NO ONE cheer on Delores! There is nothing she is doing that deserves that! look at all of these and the BBB reports! She is not doing ANYTHING correct! This many customers can't ALL be wrong! She is rude, disrespectful and shouldn't be in customer service. I don't understand. does she own the business? If not, firing her would do wonders for their finances and customer base.

Way to go Deloris

It's true we have freedom of speech but that does not mean you can say anything about anybody or anything with no consequences.

The old example that you cannot scream fire in a crowded theatre without accepting the consequences hold true.

Can you reveal company or military secrets? Why not if it's OK to say anything.

I think it's about time someone was held responsible for publishing untrue Rip off Reports. It tends to make us question all the people wha have legitimate rip offs to report.

Good for you Deloris, I salute you. You've actually helped 'Ripoff Report'.

Appalled

#17Consumer Comment

I am sincerely appalled that a lawsuit was instigated (or perhaps just threatened) in order to silence a former employee. In the worst-case scenario, there is an angry former employee who is greatly exaggerating the working conditions of this place. Do you SUE over that? Perhaps, but I (and I think most would agree) believe that this is a terrific over-reaction. Undoubtedly, this company already has a poor working relation with it's (former) customers.

Aside from this website, I have heard for some time that this company is just plain very, very rude. Well, this lawsuit takes the cake - pardon the pun. I will not ever shop there and should I hear of someone who might, I will dissuade them. The owner has sounded terse and unapologetic on this site (note to owner: rude defensiveness is not a strong suit. Humilty - even if you have to swallow your pride - may save you some money in the long run.

Trust me, I worked in customer service for YEARS). For example, Dolores, are phrases like "I'm right, I am not a mind reader. We issued a credit when we found out. It isn't like we didn't" (for another complaint on this site) going to generate ANY sympathy/customers/respect? No. And for those who want rather un-biased (albeit negative) opinions on this company, go no further than the Better Business Bureau where they make note of the unresponsiveness, rudeness, billing errors and other such preventable situations.

Look i just stated the facts...You dont treat employees with respect or any kind of dignity...Freedom of speech is the first admendment and i have the right to say what i want to say and what you want to say. If anyone has questions about your reputation all they have to do is look on the bbb website and are you going to post slander against them to?

Slander by Melissa

#17REBUTTAL Owner of company

Sat, April 28, 2007

From round-about, I discovered this report concerning my business. Melissa posted total lies. Melissa was let go from our employment because she was unable to do the simple job assigned to her. Sue Phillips was her boss. Sue tried every way possible to help her understand her job. Nothing could be done. We tried for over 2 weeks to train her. As you see by her note, she cannot even spell simple words.
Our store is NOT rat infested. When we even find a tiny mouse, they are trapped and disposed of. She reported us and I have the health dept. as witness that he found nothing, so was very put out with her for lying. Her workday was 8 hours. New employees are not allowed overtime.
Sprinkler systems are not required but there are straight paths to all exits and is roomy enough for wheel chair traffic.
She was allowed to use the bathroom anytime she wanted ALL day at work, as everyone is. The half hour was lunch. She is now being sued for this slander. We owe it to our reputation. Our lawyers will contact her with a court date.
