After receiving a flyer on a free weekend in Napa, I called the phone number that indicated it was for Summer Bay Resorts. They promised 4 nights at the Spa & Resort in Napa, and then tried to get me to spend money on other hokey deals. I refused the other deals, but was still promised the 4 nights at the Napa Resort.

Summer Bay uses third parties to drive traffic to visit the properties they are trying to promote. This gives them an out to say they never made any promises, and their third party must have made a mistake.

After finally getting the confirmation letter a week before the trip, it indicated accomodations at a Ramada Inn, not even in Napa. I called to get it corrected, but they would not do anything. They even tried to charge me for cancelling the reservation. In calling the Spa directly, they said that no one with Summer Bay ever stays at the property, directly contradicting their claims.

This is the worst bait and switch scam I have seen in timeshare selling. If you see anything related to Summer Bay...run.

Summer Bay Resort is Great

Summer Bay Resort is an absolutely beautiful resort, you can read testimonies and customer comments on their site www.SummerBayResort.com

The person who made the negative comment is probably just someone who thought that they could get something for free, and got upset when they found out that nothing in life is free. Summer Bay Resort sent me to Las Vegas for free, but only after I took a tour of their resort in Orlando. They also sent me to Daytona Beach, Bahamas, and Cancun, all for less then $500!!

Of course they're not just going to let you go somewhere for free, who in their right mind would really expect that? All they ask is that you tour their resort and consider purchasing a timeshare. Of course I did my research before I took my trip, I found that they have 36 resorts WORLD WIDE, and travel over 200,000 people a year, in 9 years they have only had 400 bad complaints and more than 50% have been settled. They are all similar complaints to the one above.

Lets be real people! NOTHING IS FREE. But if you want an Orlando, Bahamas, Daytona, Vegas, Cancun trip, they can give it all to you for less then $500!! At least I did :)

Summer Bay Resort is OK in my book!

Don't take my word for it
Just check with the BBB or your attorney general
