Recently, I saw an ad on cars.com for a 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS550. He listed the vehicle as an individual seller. I contacted him via CARS.COM and he responded several weeks later, ready to do business. He provided the following information:

I called, said that I was ready to purchase the vehicle, and asked him to take the car to a nearby Mercedes-Benz dealer for a pre-purchase inspection. That was supposed to be on 2/20 at 1:00. He said he would do that. Now no show at the dealer, not picking up telephone. Suspect it was a scam. Very interesting since he sent me a legit looking CARFAX report.
