Bought top-of-the-line roller lifters and RV Stage 1 cam for my 99 GMC Suburban at rebuild.  We were building a towing vehicle.  Summit Racing claimed their products were top notch top tier products build for racing.

I am not racing, just building a sturdy engine to withstand towing a travel trailer.  The 5.7 Vortec was fully rebuilt. No cost spared.

Summit Racing products failed within 50 miles. (SEE PICTURE BELOW).  The rollers on the end of the hydraulic lifters failed and destroyed the camshaft.   The engine had to come out and be cleaned with debris that spread all the way through the motor.

THIS IS LESS THAN 50 miles mostly idling and tuning.  Not towing.

SUMMIT RACING told me to pound sand.  Because I waited longer than 30 days to install the products I bought from them, they will not stand behind their products.

The local auto parts (NAPA) shop tells me that this is a frequent failure on the 5.3, 6.2 and sometimes 5.7 with Chinese built products. I bought new parts from the local shop.  I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH SUMMIT RACING AGAIN.  PERIOD.

Summit responded but still a no go

Just because someone orders products, they do not ALWAYS instantly install, sometimes as in this instant, months would go by while other projects were completed.  The lifters were bought as top-of-the-line, and did sit in the shipping box for a few months.  Then installed. Within a few miles, they failed.  And as seen in the pictures, failed big time.  WHY?  The rollers on the end of the lifters came apart....that is junk. That is poor quality products.  A lifter that lasts only a few miles is garbage. 5,10,20k even.  BTW only quality oil was used and prelube.

We bought 16 new lifters from a local reputable  auto parts shop, The Suburban is being repaired. I will no longer do business with Summit at all.  There is no reason for such failure, except the products came defective from the start.  Our local shop said they have seen a rash of Chinese built lifters in the SMC 5.3 and 6.2 engines.

Sealed Power has upgraded and improved their design.  Clearly I got junk. And it almost ruined a new motor.  Summit projects itself as quality.  The pictures speak for themselves. Being told to pound sand by CS speaks for itself again.  As a consumer, I am through with Summit.

We do stand behind our products. There are certain, clearly-stated guidelines for warranties. In this case, we'd need to know how long you had the lifters before installing. If you reach out to us via one of our customer service channels--email, text, Messenger or by phone--with our order and customer number, we can work with you.
