I understand the physics of gasoline station pricing: "The closer a station is to an airport, the higher one expects to pay for fuel dispensed". I get that. Been traveling for over 30 years. 10 - 15 cents a gallon more than average around town is tollerable and expected, but Sun Gas exceeds reasonable and has gone to the Dark side by "praying" upon unsuspecting tourists and business travelers by gouging them for $2.00 more per gallon than the average going rate! This Sun Gas station has NO curb side sign with Gas prices displayed for passing motorists,... just figured they were in the middle of changing the signs and paid no more attention. Barely glanced at the tiny pump display before inserting the nozzel and setting it for a fill-up. Going over the days events in my mind I did not notice anything wrong until glancing at the Dollar signs dinging away and beyond $67 for only 12 gallons,...higher than a fill-up had ever cost for this vehicle when prices were near $4/gallon! I stopped the flow, looked at the pump display carefully and saw that I had been duped! Initially I thought it a mistake or that I was imagining this blatant display of greed, so I checked the other pumps first and they all read $5.49. I shut the pump off immediately and entered the store to complain. The young kid behind the counter just shrugged and said it was "because they were close to the airport". I stated that I was sure not to be the only one to complain, to which he answered "no". I told him I was going to report them to the Better Business Bureau or something. No response,... no emotion. Here's their trick: The pump's numeral "5" looks very similar to a "3", so that you just don't notice or maybe not believe your eyes until you see the dollars skyrocketing! You've been "had", or rather "Gassed" in this case.

Any chance y'all would be willing to post a list of the stations whose hoses you stabbed? Just so's none of us get incinerated by innocently filling up at them?

Then the next person to pump gas gets sprayed with gas from the "pricked" hose, a spark sets them, their car and kids on fire.....but it all works well for you as the gas station probably burns to the ground too.  What's a little collateral damage?

I'll bet your ragging on the "young kid" really helped your case.

And an "S" looks like a "5" and a "1" looks like an "l".  I'll bet while they were changing their price signs, they saw you, changed the "5" to look more like a "3" and sat back to watch the fun. ;)

They didn't rip you off at all, you made several erroneous and careless assumptions and got burned...NOT their fault.

Man up, you did most of it to yourself.

In my county in SC, I'm paying 2.98 and 2.97. Sam's Club gas is 2.93! While we're still too high for a guy who paid 23.9 as a teenager, but I'm still glad it's as low as it is. But geez, over 5 bucks a gallon because it's close to an airport? Definitely a rip off.

Not a rip off

"Barely glanced at the tiny pump display"
"they all read $5.49"

You failed to properly read the price that was posted on all the pumps. In the great American Free Enterprise System merchants have the right to charge whatever they want. Not a rip off.
