My wife and I purchased a 1997 Toyota Camry XLE from Sun Toyota on June 28th, 2002. At that time we were told by Sam Derringer, the finance manager, "for a extra $6/month we could purchase an extended warranty that will cover all major components for the next 2 years." We thought that was inexpensive insurance and we said o.k.
On May 30th, 2003, I noticed the transmission was slipping and the A/C wasn't as cold as it should be. I called Fidelity Warranty Service, Inc on June 2nd and talked to Grady. When he looked up my contract he said, "there must be some mistake with the paperwork. They (Sun Toyota) sold you a new car contract and not a used car contract. Go to the dealer and have them redo the paperwork."

To make a long story as short as possible, I took my 1997 Toyota Camry to Sun Toyota. The car needs; 1)new transmission - cost $2000-3000, 2) replace A/C compressor - cost $1000, 3) new water pump - cost $200-300 !! They said my 2 year extended warranty expired January 2003 (6 months after we purchased it!) and they or Toyota won't do a thing to help.
They did offer to sell me a 1998 Cadillac Catera for $70 more a month than I'm paying now. When I told them I wasn't interested, they said there's nothing they could/would do.
