Complaint Review: Sun Trust Bank

Sun Trust Bank After informing me that my account had been hijacked on 8-2-12 I have been chaarged more than 600.00 in overdraft fees even after I closed the account. I am retired and elderly Hampton, Virginia

In the month of July 2012 I started having large amounts of overdraft charges put to my checking account at Sun Trust. It took more than aa month to find out thaat my account had been hijacked.

Sun Trust informed me on 8/2/12 that the account had been hijacked and I closed the acccount. They refused to give me baack the money for the charges stating that it wasn't their fault and I was responsible for this problem.

Since the account was closed they haave charged an additional 382.00 charges leaving me with no funds to live on and no waay to buy food. I had to rely on my family for help.

I ended up in the hospital with a diabetes infection that I was told was life threatening. I still got no help from the bank. My phone calls and emails to the home office of Sun Trust was ignored. I kept calling until they finally answered my cqll and told me it was my problem not theirs and most likely I could expect more charges to the closed account.

I don't know what else to do. Plese if you have any suggestions I would ppreciate your help. I live on a pension and social security.
