Complaint Review: Sunbay Fitness Melbourne FL

This is going to be short and sweet. Anyone that has went to this gym has experienced the same treatment, if not worse. Sunbay Fitness is a gym, located in Melbourne FL and is known for their first time member discounts, referral incentives, and 24-7 availability. As a High School student, wanting to get in shape to be a Police Officer, the Melbourne police guys recommended the gym to me. I was not about contracts, and the PRIMARY reason why I decided to go to the gym is because they offered "pay as you go" payment plans that allowed me to pay for the months I used, and if I didn't want to come back, my membership would be canceled until further notice.

Well, I only went to the gym for about a month and a half, advised the manager there I don't want to come back and to destroy my credit card information so that I can be on my way. I moved out of Melbourne to do the Police Academy and continue life as a High School graduate. Three years later, with no proof of letters of them supposedly trying to contact me, call me (mail forwarding, and my voice mail changed with my new number weeks before changing) I get my credit report, and it states they sent me to a collections agency for the sum of $180.00 . Yes, small, but the princeable of the fact is that my membership was canceled, as per the owner, and that they made no attempts to contact me telling me I owed them money for whatever reason. I called the agency that's collecting the debt, MCB Collections - And they advised that they didn't even bother with my debt, and that they didn't make any attempts to call me either because it was not a priority.

I called the gym, in January, spoke to a guy name Dave apparently, the new owner (I guess the old owners screwed the company too bad) who understood where I was coming from, and told me that when he bought the company, he also bought all the debt that came with it, and knew nothing about my debt, and why they would even send 180$ to collections. He said he would do some research because the whole situation was stupid and shouldn't of happened in the first place. It's now August. I got a new credit report, haven't received a phone call, every time I call, I get sent to his voice mail by the person at the front desk, and once, I even heard someone in the background (maybe dave?) saying send it to my voice mail.

Thanks Sunbay Fitness. Because of a stupid $180 charge I can kiss this Dodge Charger SRT-8 that I want good bye, because my credit is not WORTHY enough.
