I trained at Sunbelt New Orleans for 2 months. Worst career move I have ever made. There is virtually no market in a post-Katrina New Orleans for a training Business Broker, you're required to list 5 business on your own through cold calling before you can be assigned as an oncall broker to answer sales inquiries generated through their marketing effort. They know that this isn't fair goal, so they have no problem just messing with you and playing head games with you until you quit. The staff that trained me were the most mean-spirited, unhelpful pack of jerks that I have ever had to work with on a professional level.

They charge a 12% commission, which is double that of any other realtor business. And they get very defensive and angry when a trainee asks them questions to help justify and understand why they charge such a high rate. They expect trainees to go drive around on their own dime and walk into business and (sarcasm) spread the gospel of what a wonderful thing it is to list your business for sale with Sunbelt to a bunch of keen, skeptical small business owners. And if you don't convince any of them to sign this ripoff contract over a week. They will group together and have a 3-on-1 reprimanding sessions with you where they just scold you for not getting listings (which is as easy as converting water into wine with the situation they put you in).

I worked really hard for them and came up with creative marketing strategies and I never received any constructive criticism; all of their instructions were given to me in an intimidating, mean-spirited, and condescending manner.

Mark Scyster is the senior broker, he's the fat, souless jerk with the collapsed left nostril. Everist Charles is the skinny jerk whose missing back teeth show when he fakes a smile. Herb Lonegrass is a the owner; he's a fat, racist jerk that does nothing but watch TV and occasionally mosey on into the Broker's work room and scold everybody because business ain't what it use to be before Katrina. He's never even sold a business on his own!! I'm not kidding, he owns a brokerage and has never sold a business!! Everest Charles had told me about that several times. He just sits on his fat a** and collects the dough. I guess even a blind squirrel can find a nut every once in a while, because I don't know how the hell he came to own a business brokerage.

And socially, if you're not a racist Republican, you have no place in their social circle. All they would do (when they should've been trying to locate buyers for their business listings) is rant about how awful black people are. I was offended and completely out of place in their conversations.
