I purchased a boat through Suncoast-marine management in St Petersburg Florida, they offered very good shipping rates to New Zealand as long as we prepaid the freight to get the best deal.

They purchased the boat for which they were paid a good commission, they gave me a quotation for an all up price to New Zealand which I agreed to.

The sale went well then nothing happened,in all 5 months elapsed until the boat was shipped ,many excuses were given ,many stories, many untruths, the boat arrived freight collect not prepaid, eventually they paid some of the freight ,but the freight cost was twice what they had charged me,my loss so far has been $50,000.

These people are cheats they care more about profit than they do honouring their word, they have no integrity do not deal with them or you face the same loss I did.
I even introduced another buyer to them and they ripped him off worse than me.

The president gave me glowing reports that she was the daughter of an x FBI agent and would never act fraudulently. I got caught by the rubbish told to me .
Learn from my mistake deal only with licensed boat brokers and never prepay your freight as there are scammers everywhere.

Contract was voided, buyer acquired his own shipping not according to our terms when already paid

This is basic, the shipping lines charge a fuel surcharge on everything especially as the cost of fuel goes up. Buyer became scared and decided to arrange his own shipping after the contract had been made, executed, etc We had already arranged shipping and taken said boat to port, we ALSO ate additional fees such as storage, extra crane charges at the port, new battery, repairs, and more. The shipping which we had arranged was under a contract and much cheaper, when buyer arranged his own shipping it was much more and buyer expected us to pay for it. Contract was voided as our contract stipulated that our contract included shipping, we upheld all terms of our contract via purchase of the boat, repairs, preparation for shipping, and delivery to port of exit, at the time of contract void being the ocean freight, buyer assumed all responsbility. Additionally, Suncoast Marine went above and beyond, spent enormous time on this issue, took time out of the office to try to bend over backwards, and lost significant amounts of money. We understand that not everyone can be pleased, and it is unfortunated that the cost of shipping at that time was increasing so drastically, however on all dock receipts if anyone reading this is familiar with international ocean freight clearing states that the shipping line may add "fuel" surcharges at any time, I am not, nor is my company responsible for a multi-million dollar shipping line charging a fuel surcharge, I am a little guy compared to them.
