SUNCOM cellphone rip off rebate ripoff Myrtle Beach South Carolina
I bought my cellphone at Suncom and the first thing that bothered me was how they don't tell you until after you sign the contract that the first payment will be a triple payment! Then they told me how I'd get a $35 Rebate for signing up with them and I did just as told when I filled out the rebate forms and sent all the required information like instructed.
A couple months later I get this paper in the mail saying they were disapproving my rebate? I emailed them and was told to send them a copy of my receipt (did they lose it?), they also said once they got this it would take them 48 hours to process and I'd get my $30 rebate. What happened to the other $5 ?
Almost 2 weeks later I check on the website about tracking the rebate and learn they disapproved it because its not a new contract? What? I wouldn't have the phone if it weren't a new contract? I never had service with these people before... I gave them about a $200 deposit, paid for all these activation fees and they say its not a new contract?

This Suncom office told me that they were not part of AT&T and that whenever my phone said "SUNCOM" I was not roaming. But if it said "SUNCOM AT&T" that meant that I was roaming. This was after I racked up 85 minutes of roaming that I thought I was on my home system the entire time. How am I, or anyone else, supposed to know the difference between Suncom and Suncom AT&T??? They billed my credit card for more than my regular bill without my approval, and I disputed the bill with my credit card company. My credit card company found in my favor and refunded the money they ripped me off for. They're still trying to collect roaming fees from me a year later after I switched to another cell phone carrier, but I'm not budging. They offered to abate the charges if I'd allow them to lock me in for another year of service. NO WAY! The way their customer service treated me, they'll be lucky if I call an ambulance for one if they get run over in the street! -Web Williams, Myrtle Beach, SC

Well, just before I submitted my rip-off report I emailed Suncom (again). I told them that I have copies of all they're correspondance which I would be taking to the Newspaper (I used to work at the newspaper here), I'd take a copy of everything to my attorney and I'd send a copy of it all to the Better Business Bureau!
I informed them that because I was buisy writting them this morning I got to work late and learned the company I drive a taxi cab for gave away my cab! If I'd have been early I would have been able to work today so they're rebate processors cost me approximately $140 and I was wondering if they'd be reinbursing me for this money.
I also told them that all this undue stress being caused from them giving me the run around is making me feel like I may be having chest pains and need to know they're mailing address to send the medical bills if I go to the hospital!
Can you beleive that after reading the paper online I decided to check my email and got one from them! They simply stated that they've updated all my information and I'm now approved! Supposed to get a check in the mail! Will I see it? We'll see. Also, this Suncom here I've learned is a part of AT&T.
