Complaint Review: Sundial Realty/ real estate

Where do I start? Let's go with a formal introduction. Diana Creason is a broker who manages selected units at Four Peaks Estates Apartment homes in Mesa. She is a crazy, two faced slumlord. She would like to think of herself as God or a Godess- but she's simply anything but.

My family and I moved into one of the units she manages in July 2012. It was a temporary living situation for us so we only signed a 6 month lease. The fact that she made our lease a 7 month lease on a 6 month lease document should've been our first clue that this broad wasn't right in the head.

Throughout the 7 months we lived here at this ghetto property-which by the way is infested with crackheads, tweekers, meth cooks, child molesters & drug dealers- she seemed to have that sweet yet holier than thou attitude about her. And in stating so, I complained to her a few times about the area and the fact that it was stated that we have to pass a criminal backround check. Did all of those other people pass one? Uh probably not.Then she claims the apartment complex has an HOA....seriously? Between the tweekers practically living on their patio with all of their furniture on their patio and child molestors walking around drunk late at night peering into windows- I don't see how after all that this place has an HOA.

After letting her know about all of this, she tells me "Well you get what you pay for". I was thinking "Look lady, money is money no matter how cheap you've made it. Afterall I'm not paying you with aluminum cans". Karma came through. Her tenants that lived next door to us had a "friend" staying with them for a few weeks. Then last minute the neighbors skip out and move to California, leaving said friend behind. So this guy takes it upon himself to steal the appliances out of the apartment and probably sell them for some quick cash. At the time I didn't know this was going on next door. Eventually Diana had told me this when she made a rare visit to the property to assess the damage & theft. I just happen to be outside when she came over and asked me if I knew anything about it. She then gave me her personal cell phone number to contact her should any other suspicious activity occur or if the said friend came back into the complex. Said friend did come back to the complex and stayed at another apartment with other friends of his. So I texted her to let her know. She replies back to me "There's nothing I can do about that, and I can't prove he stole anything". What? Really? Then why tell me to text you if he comes back around???

That's just the tip of a very large iceburg. Our toilet in our kids bathroom turned out to be broken when we first moved in. The maintenance man has no idea what he's doing or how to do his job. He continuously tried to fix the toilet by snaking it and replacing it, not even thinking it could be the plumming itself. The air handler panel was moldy and brown and the air filter left in there was so beyond gross, wet and dirty. It was from the former tenants, who according to neighbors had moved a year ago or more. And the air filter wasn't even recognizable as being an air filter. The thing was beyond disgusting. Former tenants smoked inside and the nicotine stains on the walls and blackened vents which were painted over to conceal that fact. Diana denied the former tenants were smokers. The neighbors upstairs say differently due to the smoke seeping through holes and vents in this cheaply made building. I'm a smoker myself-but I only smoke outside. Needless to say my family and I were very sick on & off for the 7 months we lived here. It's taken me almost 2 months since we've moved to almost fully recover.

When the time came to move, we did overstay our lease for about 3 days. We let Diana know ahead of time also. She was okay with it, or so it seemed, as long as we were out that following Monday. And we had to have the keys in by 8 am Monday morning. So after we were completely moved out by Sunday night, we began cleaning the place. We cleaned the carpets with a professional carpet cleaner, steam cleaned the tile floors throughout, cleaned the stove and oven, countertops and fridge and each bedroom and carpet therein. The place was immaculate and even cleaner than when we moved in which it was not. Monday morning came and we were finished with all of the cleaning by 5-6 am. I slept a little in the car while my boyfriend finished up the carpet in the living room. Then 8 am rolls around and my boyfriend still hadn't delivered the keys to the place yet. We were very tired and trying to function on no sleep. I took my kids to school and my boyfriend took the keys to her office around 8:20 am. I texted her to let her know he was running behind but I still wanted to do a walkthrough with her. She texted back "Too Late". According to the landlord tenant act it isn't too late and I have a legal right to one. Then she says to meet her at the property at 8:45. I asked her "today?" She text yells at me " in 15 minutes!!!!" I asked her if she had an extra set of keys for the apartment. She said "uh no". Which I knew was a lie due to the fact that they had to enter a few months prior when we weren't there to check for some water leak that didn't exsist in our apartment. I told her my boyfriend was already on his way to the office to drop the keys off. So I called my boyfriend to tell him to meet us at the apartment with the keys. I text Diana that he would meet us there. She claims again it's too late. She then calls me while I'm waiting outside the apartment for her to get there, and then she starts screaming at me. Saying I have her driving around in circles! I never told her to go anywhere except to the apartment for the walkthrough. I told her if she wasn't going to do the walkthrough so we could get our deposit back then I would see her in court. She of course then hung up on me.

About a week later we received our deposit back and it was short about $235.49. It came certified mail so she's covering her butt- however, the charges are completely bogus. All except the 3 extra days we stayed there which came to $59.49. Livid at this point- I called her but kept my cool. I told her these charges hold no truth. We took pictures upon moving out after we had immaculately cleaned the place. She told me the place was left filthy, and the carpet was damaged. I was so upset at this point I can't quite say what I truly wanted to do to her. My brother also lives at this property unfortunately but has another slumlord managing him. My brother and the neighbor upstairs from where I lived made small talk with the cleaning service hired to clean my former apartment. The man who went in to clean told my brother and the upstairs neighbor that he didn't have to cleam at all. And he went on to state that whoever lived in the apartment cleaned it immaculately. The toilet I mentioned in the beginning -the broken one- finally broke for good 3 days before our lease was up. After the maintenance guy snaked it for 20 minutes the toilet filled up with black sewer goo and fecal matter. He left it that way until after we moved 6 days later...we went over 3 days and it was 3 days until our lease was officially up. The new tenant moved in that week. We were out maybe 2-3 days. If the place was filthy and the carpet was destroyed and things were broken how is it there was somebody already living in there so quickly? Diana Creason is a slumlord. She has severe mental issues and doesn't belong in this business dealing with families. She's a liar and I'm so glad I don't live under her rule anymore. I am putting together a case currently and I will be taking her to court. It's no longer about the money. It's purely the principal at this point. I'm a native arizonan and I'm tired of slumlords taking advantage of renters and homebuyers. Diana also has many other properties around Mesa and Az. Remember her name and run like Hell if you happen to come across any of her properties. I wouldn't want this to happen to anyone else.
