In Feb/2005, we made the regretable decision to sit in on a 60 minute (6 hour!) Timeshare excursion for Sunset Groups Fishermen's Resort. That, could be the worst decision of our lives. It's taken me all this time to even begin to DEAL with this group of scam artists! The sad thing is I can still see no reason to rob people the way they do! The resort was so lovely...or at least the one room we were allowed to view! We paid them over $12,000. and were promised and assurred that we would NEVER have to pay anything else! They would take care of renting out our rooms and just apply the fees to the Maintenance. That of course never transpired. These people are still operating and yet there are hundreds of people screaming on the internet about the fraudulent claims they make. In fact when we went to book a room, we gave them 10 months notice and guess what! No room! We will never go to Mexico again. This place ruined it for us and to make matters even worse they have threated to take us to a Collection Agency as we refuse to pay their fees! I want to see them pay!

Not for nothing but if you did not read the entire contract before signing it and did not bother re-reading until you got HOME, then the only person you really should be mad at is yourself, not Mexico, and this can happen anywhere. You assume they are not a reputable company, why not? Because they "awwwwed" you and got you to sign something you later regretted doing? They did not force you to sign, you did so willingly without fullying thinking things through and when the next day came around and you realized what you did and wanted to back out you didn't take a few minutes and sit down and fully re read the contract, if you had you would not have made this post.

I really am sorry you regret buying your timeshare unit, it does happen all the time where people don't think things through before they act (Hey, they almost got me with a Royal Elite Timeshare!) but you really should not bash the resort because you are mad at yourselves for buying in the first place and then waiting til you got home to try and really get out of it. Do not feel ashamed of your purchase, do not put the entire blame on the resort, instead, take action to prevent others from financial ruin and to resolve your own situation.

Please be aware that Sunset has never guarenteed the rental or marketing of weeks for its members. It is offered as an option for our members to do with extra weeks they are not going to use, however it must be done through their own means.

Some members choose to sell them on their own. Others choose to take advantage of the Referral Program in place. With the Referral Program you dont have to wait for your weeks to be available you can start marketing as much as you want anytime you want. When choosing this option the vacation package is a fixed price however you get paid for each referral that travels. This money can be used for maintenance fees if you wish or you can also choose to recieve it cash. Its up to you.
