During our trip to Mexico, a sales person (email:vlo2@haciendatresrios.com) by a series of pitching, lying and various tactics forced us to purchase what they described to be a "time-share" for over $10,000.00. By exhausting people with demonstrations (hours and hours of demonstrations of random properties) they make you sign something and will not leave you alone and won't take you back to your hotel unless you sign something. Unfortunately we were the victims and due to exhaustion and constant pressure ending up unwillingly signing papers.

After careful examinations of the contract, we realized that what we have purchased isn't a time share at all, it's a "right to use Yachts from Admiral's Yacht Club (also known as VIP Caribbean Yachting Club). The parenting company of the scam seems to be located in Miami, FL at Sunset Group, PMB 477, 444 Brickell Avenue Ste, 51, Miami, FL, 33131-2492. Their contact email is csc@sunset.com.mx and there obviously isn't a US based contact number.

Supposedly, according to Mexican Laws (http://www.profeco.gob.mx/revista/publicaciones/otas_pub_06/timeshares_abr06.pdf) I have a right to cancel the contract within 5 business days. I have emailed them on the 4th business day clearly stating my desire to cancel the contract and have mailed out letters requesting cancellation to all addresses (both in Miami and Mexico) by regular mail as well as FEDEX.

I have also canceled the charge with American Express.

I'm going to notify the following organizations tomorrow: PROFECO, Departamento de Conciliacion a Residentes en el Extranjero C.A.R.E.,the U.S. Embassy in Mexico, the U.S. Attorney General, the Federal Trade Commission and American Express. We'll continue to file complaints with the Better Business Bureau, the U.S. Dept. of Justice, RCI, American Airlines, ASTA, Department of Foreign Affairs, Travel Magazines, the Travel Channel.

I'm anxious to see what is going to happen next, as the last thing I'm going to allow is someone stealing over $10k in USD from us.

Sincerely,

I'm glad to hear Sunset worked with you to resolve the issue. I've been with them for over a year since i bought my timeshare and they've been pleasant and helpful. I also see that they are here answering people's questions which is something to appreciate. I don't see too many other companies here trying to fix their reputation. So apparently Sunset is trying to work out these problems for their customers.

I have mailed numerous copies of my request to cancel the contract to every possible address that i found via regular mail & certified (registered) as well as FEDEX.

I have spoken to A**** and W**** (won't release the names just yet) from Member Services department and both have confirmed that there's a note in the computer stating that they received the cancellation request but have asked me to call 011 52 998 881 8750 for their "Legal Department"

I have spoken to two different people form there (won't release the names just yet) and after being put on hold, "disconnected" neither was able to say anything definite about the cancellation and a refund. Everyone keeps promising a phone call for the 2nd day in the row - but no one has called.

I'm going to start notifying authorities tomorrow as well as seeking legal advise.

Sunset Group and Vip Caribbean Yachting Club (possibly the same thing) thus far turn out to be the thieves just like everyone says there are.

STAY AWAY FROM THEM! DISHONEST PEOPLE, THIEVES AND LIARS!

!!!!!!!!THE WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE!!!!!!!
