Sunset Inn At LaHabra, CA Police had to rescue my daughter from criminals there on her 2nd night, then the motel charged for 7 nights! LaHabra California
On Feb. 19, 2005, my daughter, using my credit card, checked into a 3rd floor room at the notorious Sunset Inn(LaHabra). They should have turned her away, knowing it was unsafe for a young, unarmed woman staying alone since many renters were former prison inmates. On her second night the inevitable attack came. An assailant (inside the Inn) called and, in extremely obscene words, said he was going to torture, rape, and kill her.
Her room phone was blocked so she couldn't call 911 and the desk would not answer. The assailant soon was pounding on her door and repeating his threats. Luckily, she had a cell phone and was able to call the police. At about 2AM, the hallways at the Inn contained such a menacing crowd (all men) that the officer who responded called for backup to make the rescue. The front desk was abandoned and no one at the Inn would help my daughter!
On Feb. 24 the Sunset Inn charged my card $260.00 for 7 nights lodging! The Inn has refused to rescend this charge.
