Complaint Review: Sunshine Subscription Agency - Palmetto

On Sept. 5, 2006 a young man came to our apartment and attempted to sell magazines to my wife. My wife was very skeptical so she asked me to deal with him. He told me he was selling magazine subscriptions for a communications class in school to earn point for a trip to Cancun. So I thought I would help the brother out, much to my wifes dismay.

After I chose my magazine he told me the cost and was almost too insistant on us paying cash, kept saying he had the change. My wife absolutely wasn't going for it and insisted on writing a check. So she wrote the check and after he left she told me that I had just been scammed. I told her she was being paraniod. She wanted to go find him and get the check back. When we walked outside he was gone from the complex. But he dropped his price list. She looks on the price list and he charged $10 more than he was supposed to. We got in the car and found him to give him his price list back and my wife ask him about the overcharge and he said it was for handling charges..

It is now Oct. 27th and still no magazines. My wife did a search and found this site along with the phone number for the company (954-341-8135) We called them and they said it states on the receipt that it takes 90-120 days for delivery. In my mind, I know my wife is just waiting for that 121st day to tell me how wrong I was. LOL

Point: Never buy from door to door magazine sales, and Listen to your wife of gut feeling.
