I just realized I had been scammed by a young man this summer selling magazines door to door in my neighborhood. Since I haven't received my garden magazine I looked to see if my check had been cashed and requested a copy from my bank.

As I investigated further the company name found on my receipt "Sunshine Subscription Agency" has numerous rip-off reports filed online.

I know I only lost a minimal amount but it is very anoying to know this has been going on for a long time and will continue without anything being done. I don't even care about the magazine because I "thought" I was helping a sweet young man earn points towards a trip to Cancun.

Please stop this Scam!!!!!!!

Sunshine and Palmetto...

#2Consumer Suggestion

Sun, September 24, 2006

Susan, you are one of thousands victimized by a business that has flourished behind the scenes since the end of the second world war. Sunshine is merely a new name for Palmetto, a group owned/controlled by Vinnie Pitts. Vinnie was promoted and trained by Russel Wood, and that was in the 70s-when your chances of recieving magazines were better because the old school mgrs were concerned more about this industries reputation. These kids are not selling to get through school, and have never made it to Cancun, although they are convinced they could. What they ARE happens to be ironic. They are victims, just as the folks duped by their enthusiasm. They will live on an average of 10-20 dollars per day, and be lucky to negotiate safe passage home when they tire of making their mgrs rich and being their punching bags. Solution? I can only offer that we encourage youngsters to avoid this path and stop buying from them until legislation provides protection for them from the folks who've abused them the last 40 odd years.Getabunch.
