A teenage girl, dark hair, average height and size, about 15 years old, supposedly named Ashley Vincent, knocked on our door in the Margate area during winter break from school (January 3, 2006), saying that she was selling magazines as part of a fund-raiser for her team (Patriot?). The reward would be a trip to Cancun for spring break.

After questioning her a great deal, I thought she was legitimate, so I prepared to write her a check. At that point she said, "I'll receive double points if you pay cash." The sucker that I am, I went ahead and gave her cash - $33.70 for 6 Veggie Life magazines. Way over-priced, I was sure, but I wanted to support their efforts.

Well, it's now the end of May, and no magazines have ever been delivered! Worse, I checked this website, and discovered, not surprisingly, that someone else has been scammed by the same company, in basically the same way. Because we live in a community, she may well have ripped off several other homes.

What can I do?
