I have those banks (suntrust and chase) chase is a load of s**t....and suntrust watches your account to see if it gets close to being 0.00 then put a purchase through to your account  (which mind you has already been deducted from the available balance at the time of purchase) which will send you into the negative therefore inccuring overdraft-fees of everything they were "pending". I had a pending charge of 94 cents which everyone who banks with suntrust knows that it is automatically taken out of your available balance. I had a 1.02(available balance) and did a balance inquire at a Bank of America ATM which Suntrust charged me 2.00 for which brought my account in the negative incurring a NSF of 35.00, then they son convienently charge the .94 cents from my account which had already been taken out...and got another 35.00 NSF so my account beginning yesterday(02/01/2010) was +1.02. wake up today(02/02/2010) to find my account -74.98.

Great Job, Suntrust!

You guys continue to do a GREAT JOB of cashing in on these people who haven't clue as to how to manage a checking account. They cry and whine then stomp their feet about NSF charges. Common sense would dictate if you don't want to pay NSF fees, then don't make NSF debits! Keep writing records so you know exactly how much they have before using the card. But no, that's completely beyond their understanding! I recommend you really cash in on these dummies...raise that NSF FEE to $50 a pop! Don't worry, they will never learn how to manage a checking account and will blame everybody but themselves. Come on, Suntrust...time to cash in is now! Raise those fees. Stockholders will love it. The dummies...just let them cry and whine. They haven't a clue!

suntrust bank charges outrageous overdraft fees

I have also had problems with suntrust. I forgot a check that had been written for 250.00. I had made several small purchaces with my debit card. I looked at my account one morning and the 250.00 check had been returned. I chalked it up to a stupid mistake on my part. The next day I had a negative balance of over sixhundred dollars. I ran to the bank and found that they had charged me overdraft fees on all of the debit purchaces and turned around and paid the check. I said "oh so your bank decided they could make more money off of me by paying the one check and charging me for all of the small debit card purchaces"? The teller said no...we paid the check as a courtasy.  This is not the first time this has happened to me or other people. I promise you it wont happen again to me. I am done with them.
