Opened a new account on saturday with smiles all around and assurances of devoted service and cooperation in the future.  Judge for yourself what the following on-line chat says about this banks dedication to their customers.  I guess you could say that I got SERVICED but good... It still hurts to stand-up straight...

Matthew: Good morning! Thank you for Chatting with SunTrust! How may I assist you today? 

steven *****: I've just opened a joint savings account, saturday morning that is, and I had hoped to go home and make a transfer of funds to my checking account but have not been able to do so and now I have overdraft alerts piling up.

Matthew: Hello Steven. We can make that transfer for you. So that I may bring up your profile, may I please have your full account or card number and the last four digits of your Social Security Number? 

steven *****: account number: **********

steven *****: ssn(4): ****

Matthew: Thank you.

Matthew: We are not showing any funds are available in the savings account to transfer, Steven.

 steven *****: That is very strange since the account was opened with a check for $1200.00 written by ******* *****, the other joint account holder and I'm the primary holder. Does no deposit at all correspond to the opening of a new account? That would be amazingly bizarre.

Matthew: If you deposited a check over the weekend, the check does not show in the account until after processing. Processing occurs only on weekday nights, so the funds would not be available until tomorrow.

steven *****: And I suppose you will gleefully charge me for the overdrafts in the mean time…

Matthew: If the funds are not available to cover the charges posting, you would experience fees for those transactions.

steven *****: What is your last name if you don't mind my asking?

Matthew: Certainly. My last name is Karr.

steven *****: Well it seems that's probably all for now; thanks so much.

I see.  But you have NO RESPONSE in regards to the funds availability policy, do you because that would point DIRECTLY to YOU.

Who would ever have expected that the bank with which they're doing continued business would asses fees because they don't have the decency to honor their own check?  That's right, the account that opened the new SunTrust account was written by a SunTrust customer on an existing SunTrust account.  As for Jim it's no surprise that weasels come running in support of other weasels.

YOU opened the accounts and they no doubt provided you with the terms and conditions connected with YOUR accounts but apparently it was YOU who chose not to read them.  As per YOUR posting here, YOU opened the account by a deposited CHECK then very shortly after than YOU started using the checking account as well as attempting to transfer money from the account YOU opened by a check deposit.  If YOU would have done the smart thing and read all the information they gave YOU, the FUNDS AVAILABILITY provisions would have been part of the reading.  It was YOU who caused all the problems because it was YOU who failed to abide by the FUNDS AVAILABILITY provisions, plain and simple as well as being as obvious as the rising of the sun.  Now lets see if YOU return here to appologize for your slander of the bank and their employees!  Don't bother writing back claiming I must work for them or I'm paid by them.  I'll save you the effort.  Its "NO" to both.
