On March 15,2013 a person called saying they were from MICROSOFT claiming my computer had a virus. My PC was running slower than normal and did show signs of a virus or malware. I agreed to pay $125 for them to remove the virus. I filled out an on-line form giving my credit card number, home phone, address, and e-mail account, and social security number. They loaded some freeware / shareware on the computer and did a virus scan and did a disk defragmentation. Then they logged off my PC. They were connected about 45 minutes to my PC. Later I found out about the scam where people were pretending to call from MICRSOFT and remove PC viruses. They were just charging people and gathering information for crimes involving identity theft. Microsoft does not call people about viruses on their PCs. This outfit is not a third party hired by Microsoft to remove malware from PCs. I later found two malware issues ROGUEwin32/winwebsec a data mining Trojan and NAV4b9.tmp (something prevent Norton Antivirus from working as intended). The internal security had been lowered to allow remote access, a new user had been created , and remote editing of the PC registry had been enabled. They say I am trying to "escape my debts"; in a response to the credit card company. I say they have lied to me and are now lying about me, they are just cyber con-artists. They failed to remove any virus or malware from my PC. They are not a legitimate business. They are a front using a call center (in India?) to trick people into giving them information. This information can be used in acts involving identity theft. They need to be shut down and prosecuted.
