on oct. 31st 2003 i applied at the durango store for employmenti had worked for wal-mart the year before and was seen in the store by an assistant mamager that i had worked under in the nearby town of cortez he asked me to please come and ut my application in at the durango store if i ever wanted to come back to work for them, so i did. they were hiring and called me in for an interview and i gladly did so they did the 1st and 2nd interview in the same day i passed thier orion, had 6 years of experience they were going to put me in the fabrics dept.

i have a few health problems one is a siezure disorder, arthritis, a heart condition. none of these problems ever kept me from working and i explained this to them. i was never late for work never called in sick the doctors orders are no cashiering i could work 8 hours a day and had to have 2 days off in a row. this didn't seem to bother them and they could contact my old store manager if they liked.

they were going to talk to the manager there about a wage and contact me the next day. so i went home gave notice at the job had now and waited, no call ever came, i called 6 differant times and could never even get anyone to talk to me so i made another trip about 170 miles to get the answer it was i was not suitable. how much more did they want the snippy little personel manager turned on her heel with not even so much as a sorry, so now i am out of work with close to 300 dollars a month in medicine to pay and no way of getting it, i can thank wal-mart for 6 years of hard work and nothing in return there is no reason not to hire me back except my illness they don't want to deal with they leave that up to me.

Just because you have worked at a Walmart store in the past does NOT make a different Walmart store obligated to hire you. Obviously, for whatever reason, this new store decided not to continue with the hiring process as far as you were concerned. They have every right to do this. In fact, on your application, you signed a statement at the bottom regarding this "at will" employment.

The mistake that you made was in assuming too much. Assuming that they were definitely going to hire you, and then quitting your old job before even having a firm job offer, was not a smart action on your part.
