I was hired by the supervisor Edward 888-888-7778 x 42876 the week of June 11. I attended training the week June 18-22. On June 26 I started working on the floor. I brought my cosmetology license into workand handed to the manager Nelly. On July 8 Nelly text messaged me saying that I needed to give her my license. Nelly lost my license and denied I ever gave it to her.

She then threatened to fire me unless I got a replacement license. On Monday July 12 I was scheduled to work and when I went to work she said the paper the division of licensing gave me was no good and that if I don't get the letter on letterhead by that Friday I will be out of work. I went back to the division of licensing and repeated her words and they have me the paper.

Incidentally, on July 4 I stepped on a nail. Had trouble walking during all this. On July 5 went to ER for tetanus shot and xray. Dr gave me a letter stating I was required to keep my foot bandaged and athletic footware for 2 weeks this way my foot doesn't get infected from work with all that hair on the floor. Nelly threatened  to fire me because I looked like I was going to a gym since I was wearing sneakers. She sent me home early.

On July 20 she sent me home at 2pm because it was slow and told me on Friday to come at 5pm.  On Friday around 130 she called me and told me that Regis was cutting hours because they r closing 2 stores down and that regis was laying off all new hires. I said ok well then I would like to be a part timer. She said I have to call and see because they are cutting part timers also. Markeena an Maira are also in jeopardy.  I'll find out call me on Monday.

Saturday night I text messaged her to see if I was still supposed to attend the meeting on Sunday the 22nd? She said no it has been cancelled. So since she said to call her on Monday I called. Nelly was not working. Her shift manager Pam picked up. I didnt tell her who i was nor did she ask. Pam Told me nelly was off today. I text messaged Nelly asking if I was on the schedule. She never replied. I called the salon again and Pam picked up again. I asked if I was on the schedule. She said NOT THIS WEEK.

Additionally I called corporate numerous times and have been getting the run around. After 5 calls to ops I was referred to Nellys supervisor Eddie. He stated that Nelly told him that I was on the schedule to work and never showed up to work. That the 2 stores are not closing. He referred me to Mr Glover the HR partner. 888-888-7778 x 42331. I left 3 messages and have yet to get a call back.

I feel like Nelly has has been harassing me since the day I got there. She has very unprofessional work ethic.  Talks about cheating on her husband with Pams brother and all this gossip drama. Pam gets up an leaves the salon on breaks longer than 30 minutes and has the staff clock her back in. They are 2 peas in a pod. They lie to cover their own asses. I was hired to work and make money. And I feel like I was placed in a junior hs all over again.

A manager is supposed to build a team up and make her salon successful and instead all I got was prejudice towards me for whatever reason. Now I've been out of work for 2 weeks and all I wanted was a transfer!!

I'm glad things are much better. It definitly sounded as though at first they were keeping you in the dark. In fact it sounded as though she was hazing you. Which could be a violation of : Title VII the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Plus: California Government Code:12900. This mistreatment most defintely sounds like : Constructive discharge. California Labor Code: 2922. To make an employees life so miserable the average employee will quit. Why would a employer condone of this? Obviously: So the employer does not have to pay unemployment insurance. The oldest trick in the book. I hope things stay good and right. I would defintely get all you're required licenenses then consider starting you're own business. You will never make the money you deseve working for some one else. Find a job you love and you will never work again.

The matter has been resolved thru corporate. Transfer has been granted. They were very accommodating. I made a mistake when writing the report. I should have waited longer before writing this report.
