Agreed. Some of the stuff floating around may even contain the banned substance ephedrine

Ephedrine was used to provide extra energy and to decrease the hunger sensation. Unfortunately, at some dosages it also cased heart problems. People have died.

The best way to lose weight and to keep is off is by starting a program where you walk each day. Not jog, walk. Start with around the block. Gradually increase it until you're going down to the store and back. Thirty minutes, or an hour. You don't need to run, or carry anything in your hands. Just an hour of walking at a reasonable pace is enough to give you the exercise you need.

And, of course, use common sense when eating. Stop when you're full. Don't try to force down a medium pepperoni pizza all by yourself. Eat a slice or two, and then stop. Better yet, eat one slice and a green salad. Without the dressing, or with a vinegar-based dressing.

Buy a book on diet recipes. Make eating fun and enjoyable instead of falling into the same old quarter pounder super-size meal every day after work.

Various OTC diet pills are sold as dietary supplements and are not examined by anybody to determine if they are safe and effective. Until a supplement produces a few corpses nobody cares what they claim.

Did you know what was in these pills before you took them?

Did you know how they might interact with any medications or other supplements you might be using?

Did you consult with your doctor before using them?

Here's a news flash. None of these diet "miracles" work. Almost everyone who uses them gains back any weight they lost in a short time. If you want to lose weight then eat less and exercise. As Oprah says, "There just ain't any other way honey."
