Complaint Review: Supershuttle Transportation Systems

Supershuttle Transportation Systems "Supershuttle" Unsafe, misleading, unpleasant and careless ripoff Los Angeles California

In October 2003 we booked a round trip on "Supershuttle" to/from LAX. The trip to LAX was acceptable, on time and prompt. The return trip was a fiasco. We had to "Hail" our own shuttle from traffic(no rep was there), went thru 3 of them including one marked "supervisor" before one would take us to Santa Clarita.

Be advised that these vans are PERSONALLY OWNED!. The van smelled like an ashtray, had packs of cigarettes on the dash. The fuel gauge read 1/4 of a tank. After asking the driver if he had enough fuel to make it to our destination he said he has been driving 14 hours that day! We had to engage him in constant conversation to keep him awake. He drifted over the lines, made sloppy lane changes (overtired for sure).

I reported this to super shuttle the next day. No follow up was done, when I checked back with them, they KNEW NOTHING. The entire complaint was "swept" away.

On May 6th -14th we tried them again (thinking ONE bad driver is not the company). ANother mistake. While the pickup at home went well, the trip from LAX to home was once again a dog/pony show. Once we got a van he was instructed (Van 121) to again circle the LAX area for more passengers. We already had 2 couple(4 people) on board.

We told the operator that we are paying for transportation home NOT a tour of LAX and it's areas. The driver once again asks to leave LAX and once again informed to circle the pickup areas for more passengers. We spent 35 minutes inside LAX going around. Combine this with listening to the "Company radio" blasting it's traffic and a tired old van with bad shocks and wandering front end, this was hardly what we paid $62 each way for.

Bottom line, Supershuttle has demonstrated that THEY DONT CARE. You're just another piece of luggage to them, not a jet-lagged,tired traveler that wants to go home. Avoid these people, there must be better "for hire" transportation available in the Los Angeles area.

After receiving a phone call from the manager of the "Los Angeles" office of "Supershuttle" he informed me that "Van 121" is a "Burbank" van and that he would FAX over the information to the Burbank office.

It has been a week now and the Burbank office ONCE AGAIN has chosen to totally ignore the entire complaint! Not even a callback from them.In my opinion,Supershuttle has shown that it doesnt care if the contract vehicles are dangerous, not roadworthy and that the drivers are overtired.

I think it's time to discuss this with the California Highway Patrol, The Los Angeles Police Dept and Burbank PD and see if maybe getting some of their vehicles stopped for inspection might help with the safety issues.
