Complaint Review: Susan Baskin - Michael Dewitt

Warning to Craig's List users. Do NOT send money via Western Union to a supposed TNT shipping "agent". TNT works just like UPS or Fed-Ex.

These scammers listed a plasma T.V. on Craig's List in Colorado that supposedly still had eighteen months warranty but was unusable in the UK because it was set up for use in the United States. I enquired about it and
"Susan Baskin" e-mailed me back with pictures and information.

I was then sent to a very official-looking TNT web-site that looked real. I had looked up TNT on Google and it was a legitimate company. "Susan" sent me to :

After e-mailing back and forth several times I got a very official-looking TNT payment instruction sheet to send a payment through Western Union to an agent. I was told that this agent would confirm payment, deliver the T.V., allow five days to make sure everything was fine, and then he would release payment to "Susan". It had a tracking number assigned, too.

So, I went to the real TNT UK website and punched in the tracking number.There was nothing under it. Then I typed in the given zip code and discovered it didn't even exist. I called and talked to a TNT customer service rep, and she said that TNT didn't work any differently than UPS or Fed-Ex.

I Googled "Wolverhampton" and two scam reports showed up here, so I'm adding my experience to those. Fortunately, I discovered it before I sent any money. I have all my communication saved if anyone needs it for prosecution purposes.
