I purchased my Suzuki XL7 from Wantagh Suzuki on October 14, 2003. It had a 3 year warranty. When my check engine light went on in July of 2006, I brought it to an authorized Suzuki service center assuming it was under warranty since my 3 years was not up yet. They told me that my warranty had expired. I contacted Suzuki Corporation customer service because the dealship I purchased the car from had since gone out of business. They told me that I purchased the car in May of 2003 and that my warranty had expired.

The bill of sale did not have a date on it (part of the scam from the dealership) but I faxed it and the official check for the exact amount due on delivery which was dated October 14th 2003. They said that was not sufficient. So I also faxed them the title dated 12/19/03 which showed the car only had 11 miles on it when purchased. They still would not do anything for me insisting I purchased the car in May of 2003.

Suzuki customer service said that the dealership let me have the car in May and I didn't have to pay for it until October. Who would let you take possession of a car 5 months prior to paying for it? I would like to know which dealerships do that so I can buy my next car there!

In the meantime, my bill was adding up from the service repair shop because they couldn't find out what was wrong with the car and they were charging me $94 an hour for diagnosis. It took 2 months going back and forth for them to finally fix the car at an expense to me of $604.86. Not to mention the inconvenience of having people pick me up and drop me back off at the repair shop.

All I want is full restitution of the money I had to lay out since I was still under warranty when the check engine light came on in my car.
