Swift is in the habit of hiring drivers and terminating them on false or fraudulent accusations. I am a 49 year old female driver. I was never formally advised that I had been terminated. I was called by the DM asking where I was and told to turn around and go back to a location to drop my load because it had been T-called. I was then told to pick up another load to come back to Decatur, GA so that I could talk to the safety guy. Opon my arrivalat the terminal, I was greeted by the DM and was shuttled into a room where he (DM) called the safety person on the phone in Ocala, Fl. The safety person "Richard Dennis", answered the phone, put us on hold for approximately 5 minutes and then spoke very cordially to the DM. He asked why was he calling. He responded, "I am calling about K---. His (safety person) attitude and posture changed abruptly to negative. He immediately started yelling at me. The DM had to intervene. Keep in mind that I had never spoke to this person before nor had I ever met him. The DM told him that what he was doing and saying was unnecessary; he told him that we were calling to give an account of what occurred on the day in question. He told him that my actions were the result of the instructions given to me by him the DM who happened to also be the Fleet manager. He (safety person) said, "yeah, yeah, OK". I then asked if it was ok for me to speak now. He gave me permission to state my business. I told him that on the date in question, that I was located in St. Clair, PA in an industrial park. I had gone to the industrial park after being directed to do so by the customer. I called the customer to ask how to access their premises after I had been given a citation by the police for driving on the street while over 10 tons. I followed the instructions given to me by swift on the qualcom. and was stopped by the police and ticketed. The police officer gave me instructions on how to get to the customer's location. I followed those instructions and was unable to access the premises so I called the customer. I was told to go down to the industrial park down the street and get turned around because I would not be able to access the street unless I was able to make a left onto the street. I wen to the industrial park; as I started to make my turn, I got stuck in mud. I called the DM. He told me to fill out MACRO 55 and call onroad. I did exactly that and took pictures because I saw other tracks there and a man came out o take pictures of me and the truck. A tow truck came to pull me out after approximately 30 to 60 minutes. I examined the scene and I only had 2 drive tires in the mud and the balance of the trailer was on the road. I never struck any vehicle, object or person. I did not have any accident. Approximately 5 days after this incident, I was contacted by the claims department at swift. The lady that I spoke to told me that she had received a call from a lady stating that I ran over her grass. I told her that I did not run over any lady's grass and that I had not been near any houses. I asked if I may know the address of the lady's house. The address that she quoted was the address 2 the industrial park where I had been stuck and I told her that the address was not residential. She asked me how AI got stuck and I told her exactley what I quoted earlier about making the turn and getting stuck. She said, "That's all I need to know". A few days after that I was abruptly pulled off the road and put on safety hold for a week and told that they were appealing to Phoenix. I was told to clean out my truck in the meantime. I found out later by mail that I had been dismissed. I called swift to find out the official reason and was told that I had an accident that I had not reported. I never had any accident. I am still currently unemployed because on my DAC it is stated that I had an accident that I did not report an that I am unhireable. I requested that this be changed and until today, this has not occured. According the the DM and others, I had been doing a great job and they were backing me. I can't get a job anywhere because of the fraudulent statement on my DAC report. Swift has terminated many others that I know of under the same false claim. Something must be done!!!
