I worked for Swift for about 4 months. Injured my knee getting off the catwalk on the back of the tractor. When I reported the injury, I was told to contact workers comp. which I did. The doctors report stated knee strain to one knee and a possible torn miniscus on the other. The insurance co. tried to say it was pre-existing and denied me compensation. Because of the denial, when I contacted Swift, they informed me that they were terminating me. Because of all this, I have been given notice of eviction from my apartment and possibly repossesion of my personal vehicle.

When I went to orientation in Syracuse NY, I was told that Swift stood by their employees. I was very excited to hear this. I should have known it was too good to be true. I guess they lied.

I'm really sorry to hear that Lynda. It would appear from all the posts about Swift I am the only one who ever worked for them who hasnt been jacked around. I am happy to see you got an attorney. I do no have one as I havent needed one. Anyways IF you have a ligitamate claim your attorney will handle it. If they start jerking me around I will of course do the same. Just one question for you. Did you take this to upper managment in Phoenix or just to your terminal manager? If you would like to know more about I have dealt with Swifts bs. I have a lot of tactics I have used to stop them cold in thier tracks. They tried all this stuff on me also, I didnt let them get away with it.

I have tried being professional. The Insurance co. has made all kinds of accusations and are trying to say that this is a pre-existing condition which is totally wrong. I have been an athlete all my life and have never had problems with my knees. Because of this, Swift terminated me. How can I go back to work for a company that doesn't stand behind it's employees.

I worked very hard for this company and never had a bad word to say about them until this happened. I was not only angry, I was also very disappointed with them.

I worked holidays and weekends even when I wasn't supposed to. And this is what I get for all my efforts.

I haven't even been able to go to physical therapy because I don't have insurance anymore. The healing process is going to take a long time, and I don't mean just the physical healing.

I have retained an attorney to help me with this because nobody will talk to me never mind listen.
I know you say go to upper management, but I've tried and I've been treated really nasty. I don't have the capacity to deal with people who treat me like I'm some kind of criminal. I'll let my attorney do the leg work on this.

Swift Taking Excellent Care of me

I also have a knee injury that happened while I was working for Swift Transportation. I have been off work now since 5/29/2001. Swift has paid all of my medical expenses and has paid me my bi-weekly workmans comp check on time the entire period. I have been very well taken care of.

I have worked for Swift now for almost 4 years. They are the largest trucking company in the world. One of the big problems with Swift is the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing. My advice is dont take NO for an answer with this company. The lower managment is not the place to take your NO from. Keep pushing your complaint all the way to the top if you have to. It will get taken care of. For you new drivers this is my advice. Ignore your Driver Manager like the plauge. They are only out to make thier jobs easier and do not have your best interest at heart. Take your complaints to the FLEET Manager and tell him/her that if they do not resolve the problem you will go to the CEO himself. Don't back down. Trust me if there is even the slightest legitemacy to your complaint they will take care of it.

If I can be of any assistance to you please post your questions below and I will respond so everyone can benefit.

The important thing with dealing with Swift is
1. Be proffessional.
2. Take it to middle management or higher and
3. Do not back off. Be agressive. I have learned thru experiance with this company the squeakiest wheel gets the most grease.
