After signing out my e-mail account on Yahoo (6/29/10), I encountered an advertisement for an auction page on the internet. So I signed in to my e-mail and then went on to check out this website called 'SwipeBids.com'. It seemed like a fun website and advertised it was full of deals and that anyone could win and make some good deals on a variety of consumer goods like the iPhone, or iPad, or camera's, etc...

Upon entering the site there was a lot of visual distraction going on and a video playing of news cast people raving about the opportunity on this site.  So I went on to explore this site as it and it directed me to 'Register' first.  So I did (No mention of  a membership fee) - then it brought me to another page with the same glittery & busy page as the first and the same video repeating over again.  I scrolled back up to pause the video, and then followed the directing arrow back down near end of page to finish the process with credit card info (still no mention of the $150 fee).  I thought if my credit card would be charged it would only be if I happen to bid on a product and win something, but I had no idea of how it worked yet.

Now I am in the site: I watched and observe what was happening here and how to participate.  I noticed that I needed to make bids on some bids so I can make more bids, (like coins to a slot machine) so that I could be able place a bid on an item (an actual product) that I may be interested in and possibly win- like a camera or iPhone, etc So I spent about $8 on those invisible coins (bids) and watched for a product I was interested in to bid on, which was about 8hrs away (I was hoping for the iPad). In the mean time I explored the site more foe more help and how to see how to navigate and to understand what is going on here. I then found more information of my purchase and bid history - and that's when I discovered was that I was being charged $150 registration fee to join.  If I knew this at the beginning I would have never registered or entered this site!  It was not clearly presented or obvious in the presentation of their website. Only after Ive joined is when it became apparent and even then it wasnt obvious until I explored and learned more about this webpage.  The Fact is that this fee was so convoluted and disguised it was not even visualized in the same box in as the registration form on the first page or mention in the video; nor was it mentioned the second page in the same box of the credit card form.  It was in another box in another column the on the left, opposite side of the page, which could be easily missed or lead you to believe it were for something else. The sign up portion is on the right side in a completely different box.  I discovered all this by going back over it as to how could I have missed this $150 fee?

Of course when I questioned them about this I was given a link page where they show this fee is clearly evident and legal, but this is not the view that the customer first sees it is not that clear or evident. And about it being legal, well, well see. Just because they can deceive and found a loop hole in the system to get away with this - well see; there needs to be an investigation of SwipeBides.  Any way I talked to with an on-line chat representative for Swipebides as well as a live agent on the phone and they both refused to give me a refund.  I was told that I have to use and try their services for 30 days (money back guarantee) and if I dont win bids theyll refund my money.

Even after I tried like they said I had too.  I still cant get my customer dis-satisfaction refund.  Why? Because they said I made a bid and won.  I made bid to buy bids and won those bids by paying more money so I could play - rather than to purchase of an actual product. What a catch 22. Very very clever!!!

I can understand if I actually won a product that I bided on and not winning the bids to bid on a product yes.  But no! This scam is a combination of deception, ponzi, spoofing, slot machine gambling, trickery, fraud, and a scam misleading not only the consumer, but the credit card companies too; especially if there is no investigation into the deceptive and unethical practices of this company called Swipebids!!!

So not only do you have the misleading and vague webpage not disclosing their fees, lack og customer service and satisfaction; but they have the obvious rigged gamming techniques of the greedy criminals.
