The Norton 360 GUI under PC Security kept saying I was At RISK that a virus scan need to be ran.
I would run a scan but the software would not update. It still said I was At RISK and did not record the date under Last Scan. I connected to Symantec support and established a chat screen with a technician. I then did what was necessary to let him access my system to work the problem.
The technician ran a scan removed a tracking cookie. It appeared at first that he had corrected the problem. But after checking what he did I found out that he didn't fix anything. What he did was go into the Product State Monitoring' GUI and unchecked Virus & Spyware Scan. He didn't fix the problem of the software thinking that no scan was ran. He simply turned off the software monitoring. If I reenter the check for Virus & Spyware Scan, which SHOULD BE CHECK. The original problem is still there. I am a System Administrator myself. This constitutes FRAUD. This was no mistake. He either didn't know how to resolve the problem or he didn't want to take the time. He thought I was an uneducated user who would not pick up on his tricks.
After over 10 years of using Norton/Symantec products. I'M THROUGH! This was a deliberate fraud perpetrated on a customer. When my subscription expires in AUG. I will not renew. I also work in the industry and will make sure to report this to others using or considering Symantec products.
