I purchased a copy of Norton Antivirus Pro (NAV Pro) 2004 from my local Staples store in Boise, Idaho in February. I promptly submitted the rebate form and required pieces cut from the packaging along with the receipt as instructed because I wanted the $30 back as soon as possible. The rebate "come-on" was instrumental in my decision to purchase.

I recently received a postcard from Symantec stating that I had failed to submit all required materials. This is false. I visited the website listed, rebatestatus.com, and entered a complaint. I received an automated msg stating I would hear in 2-3 days. That was a week ago. Yesterday I entered another complaint, but I don't expect to get any action from these people.

I believe the rebate processing firm invented a reason to deny my rebate application, as I submitted well within the time frame specified and provided all information requested.

Were you UPGRADING? If not, no rebate!

You didn't mention whether you were upgrading or not. However, this may be of some help in explaining why you MIGHT not have qualified for the rebate.

Personally, I've always received my UPGRADE rebates, as advertised.

The only $30.00 rebate that I could find is offered for an UPGRADE, as shown on the rebate form, which I've partially quoted from below:

$30.00 UPGRADE/COMPETITIVE REBATE

For previous owners of a stand alone or pre-loaded version of any Norton or Symantec software product, or owners of any retail (boxed or downloaded) software product from McAfee (excluding preloaded or OEM software from McAfee).

A copy of the rebate form can be found at the following address. [I believe you must have Acrobat Reader installed to view or print.]

Further note that if a product is purchased online from the Symantec Store, the UPGRADE rebate is INSTANT, prior to paying.
