I have had a CareCredit account thru Synchrony Bank for a few years.  I never missed a payment and have paid off my account multiple times in the course is having the account. The last time I carried a balance was $75 on a $1000 credit limit. I paid it in full in January of 2015. In August of 2015, my account was closed because they pulled a credit report - without my knowledge or authorization. Because of what they found (that I missed a couple of payments over the last month), they decided to close my account.  First, I had no balance.  Second, I have not missed any of their payments and third, they ran an unauthorized credit report.  I spoke to a supervisor whose name I took and her ID. She stated "they can do whatever they want whenever they want".   Really?  By them closing my account, it  harmed my overall score And I fully plan on taking this further with my state's AG and the FCC.  Is this really a fair practice?  I could understand it if I was not making payments and was carrying a balance but for an unauthorized credit check?  No way. And, I was not asking for more credit.  I truly believe that this is the reason anyone with credit issues who are trying to rebuild will never be able to do so.  I am going to close all of my credit card accounts as I do not need them.  of course I will absolutely pay off any balances but this is just not worth it!

Funny how NOW its a tragic disaster yet the reality is YOU GAVE THEM PERMISSION! Maybe not THAT time but the contract that YOU AGREED TO gives them the right to pull a credit check to ensure YOU are still credit worthy. The issue is simple. YOU did NOT use the card for a period of time. THAT action is what caused THEM to pull a report on YOU!! YOU may have died for all THEY know. In pulling that report they found that your RECENT payments have been late or missed. THEY have a RIGHT to determine WHOM they have as a customer! In THIS instance YOUR CHOICE of NOT paying ontime showed that YOU are in financial distress. MEaning that after all those years of ontime payments NOW you are missing payments. YOU probably also failed the income test. Meaning that ten years ago YOU had the income to afford a line of credit but DO NOT have that same income NOW! BOTH are NOT THIER FAULT! THEY have to look out for THEMSELVES! NOT YOU! THEY are in the business TO MAKE MONEY! NOT waste it chasing someone who looks to be in financial distress. It costs MONEY to send YOU collection notices. It takes MONEY to call YOU up. THEY have determined that YOU are a credit risk and have cancelled YOU accordingly. THEY can ONLY go on the information THEY have. THAT info is showing YOU to be a risk. NOT some giant conspiracy to keep YOU down. YOU are only a victim of the choices YOU have made and nothing more. WHY is it ALWAYS someone elses fault when the REALITY is its ALL on YOU! Grow up and ACCEPT your role in all of this!! YOU are supposedly an ADULT! Try acting like one and NOT like some jilted 16 year old girl. YOU made the choice to NOT pay your bills on time ande THIS is the cost of that choice and nothing more.

I really don't know, nor do I care who you are, but I am sorry you are wrong.  Their contract may say one thing BUT according to fair credit reporting, they still need my authorization for any further credit report pulls.  I was in no way asking or using my account. it is this practice of reporting that continually hurts credit worthiness whether it is for a job or insurance or a bank account.  If I missed a payment once in three years on any account I do not feel that you should be judging me or that this account should have been reported as such.  You, Jim, are way so many Americans are looked down on.  I bet you have a job that pays consistently and do not have one that you work 80 hours a week but another company goes out of business and does not pay their vendors after services were performed. And if you are one of the service oriented self employed, don't worry your day will come.

When YOU agreed to them extending you credit, YOU agreed for them to regularly check YOUR credit so they can determine if you are still credit worthy.  This is COMMON PRACTICE!  As you admitted, YOU chose to make late payments on other accounts.  As such, they decided they didn't want to do any further business with YOU because YOU have a documented reputation of NOT paying YOUR bills on time with those other accounts.
