Before leaving on an extended trip to the Northwest, I checked with the T-Mobile store in Asheville to be sure that I would not incure roaming charges for calls made while out of state. I was assured that my plan covered calls from Washington State that I would be making.

Upon my return, I received a bill for $573, mostly roaming charges. After paying off more than half of this bill ($310) I have now been informed that I owe almost $500.

Calls to customer service have been handled with extreme rudeness by the service techs. The basic message was "Tough. You have no recourse and we can do as we please."

T-mobile roaming problems - when they were suncom

#2Consumer Suggestion

Sat, December 27, 2008

T-mobile has bought up Suncom, and has been shaky with their billing to my family plan so far, but could be worse.

However, when we were with Suncom, they tried this exact thing with us, and there was nothing we could do except start a new plan that definitely did have roaming included. Mind you, on day 1 of plan 1, we were told that there was no roaming charges by a sales-lady who was absolutely wrong and lying to us, or utterly ignorant. Supposedly they had changed their policy just days before it turned out, but there was no compensation. And they were jerks about the whole thing.
