The Taco Bell Restaurant in IowaCity, Ia., has a VERY big problem with a certain front counter employee. We went there around 2 PM CST, on Sunday, February 1st, 2009. I placed an order, was NOT given a ticket with an order number on it. When it came time for our order to be given to us, only one drink was included.

When I explained to the girl that I ordered two drinks, with two separate orders, she told me "No, you don't get a drink with the three soft tacos, just the Mexican Pizza". I then told her that I didn't order anything as a "meal", just individual orders with a drink for EACH order. She then made a face as if to say, "This guy is getting on my nerves".

Prior to our order being presented to us, a woman had walked in, waited about five minutes at the counter, was not addressed by ANY Taco Bell employee. This same front counter employee passed this woman by TWICE, while mumbling something about some personal "drama" she was experiencing. The would-be customer then turned and walked out.

Another thing that I found disturbing is that the employee in the "food-prep" area who was preparing orders had a glove on only ONE hand...the other hand was the one holding the tortillas, and other edible items.

Needless to say, I will NEVER go to that Taco Bell location again, but the more important fact is that Taco Bell's customer service is beginning to "sTink" at EVERY location.

Wearing gloves is no guarantee...

Anyone who has prepped food can tell you that gloves can be contaminated or get just as dirty as a pair of hands. Anyone can put on a pair of gloves to prep food, scratch his crotch and then go back to prepping food. When I was a teen I worked at one restaurant that required us to wear gloves and the owner even admitted that they were more for customer perception than anything else. Bottom line: An employee who isn't wearing gloves can have clean hands and an employee who is wearing gloves could be wearing dirty ones.

As for the rudeness, it shouldn't happen in theory but how many people really go to a fast food restaurant expecting quality service? By putting this person at the front counter, the restaurant is indicating that they don't care about your business and you should take your dollars to an establishment that wants you as a customer.

Ok lets make sure I get this correct. You are more worried about not getting your drink with you food? I would be more concerned about the food prep server not wearing the gloves. Hummmm lets see.....You would rather have a drink so you can eat your food that someone else touched with there hands. I think the ripoff is with yourself!!!!
