Taco Cabana Surprise! Man in the Taco Cabana Ladies Restroom! ripoff Austin Texas
We were looking for a good place to eat and decided that we would check out a Taco Cabana restaurant and see if they had got REAL MEXICAN music instead of the horrible noise they blasted their patrons with --presumably to encourage table turnover.
This happened on or about Saturday, November 25, 2006 at approximately 9 or 10 p.m.
All of the prices had increased at least a dollar and I didn't see any new menu items. I decided to check out the ladies' restroom and I was unable to open the door. These doors aren't supposed be obscured from inside so I gave the door a SWAT shove and imagine my surprise when I saw a young Hispanic MALE in the ladies room. The door is clearly marked "La Dama" which means "the lady" in Spanish and it is clearly marked "Women" in English. So there was no excuse. The MAN had been blocking the door.
I loudly announced that there was a MAN in the LADIES' ROOM and I WALKED OUT! So did quite a few other Hispanic patrons since this is a huge no-no in the Mexican culture and most other Hispanic cultures as well!
MEN DO NOT GO IN LADIES ROOMS WHILE LADIES ARE INSIDE! THEY USE THE MENS' ROOMS! That door is plainly marked "El Caballero" or "Gentlemen."
Was he a pervert or a potential rapist? Did he have a concealed vidcam in the ceiling that he was retrieving? WHY?
This place NEVER ceases to amaze me!
I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THAT LOCATION!
P.S. I did enjoy a rather too-salty but delicious tortilla soup at the Taco Cabana location at Burnet Road which is where we went after HURRIEDLY leaving the Research Blvd. location!
HOW WAS I RIPPED OFF?
When I go to the ladies restroom, I do NOT want to see a MAN in there! I was unable to enjoy a meal there not knowing who this man was or what he was doing in the ladies' room and what he would do to me because I forced my way into a restroom for my gender!
I wanted to wash the grease from my emergency engine repair from my truck and enjoy a nice meal at Taco Cabana --not force my way into a ladies room and see the leering face of a MAN in there!
It is the Taco Cabana's responsibility to insure the safety of ALL of their patrons!
Because of this unexpected UNPLEASANTNESS and highly OFFENSIVE CONDUCT, I could not have the meal I anticipated and I was ripped off from the enjoyment I might have received from a warm Tex-Mex meal!
I went to the corporate site to see if having leering males behind ladies room doors is a part of their corporate culture or is their standard operational procedure. I didn't see any.
What if a little girl had gone in there unescorted!!!!!!?????!!!

The man in the ladies room had a moustache, pierced ears, a shaved head haircut, big muscular biceps and HE WORE A VERY NICE BLACK DRESS TRIMMED WITH LACE AND RED PATENT LEATHER STILLETO HIGH HEELS!
I think what freaked me out the most was the long handle-barred moustache! It had two little silver Christmas tree type balls hanging off of each end of it.
Yecccchhhhhhh!
I haven't been back to that restroom so I have no idea if he is still around or not.
And by the way, he also had on those old-timey black lace fingerless gloves --- and LONG RED POLISHED FINGERNAILS!
So that was why I was so concerned about the MAN in the LADIES restroom!
Maybe he was just filming a video?

Or, maybe he was cleaning the restroom! Did you even bother to ASK someone about it? You didn't mention anything about that. Instead, you just flew off the handle!

I'll think of you and your outbursts the next time I go to a sporting event, or concert, and find dozens of females in the men's room.
Or. when I watch a post game interview being done in the men's locker room by a female.
Good grief.
As Peter pointed out, the guy was trying to keep the door closed for a reason. How odd the Manager did not request your advice prior to making the needed repairs, or other basic maintenance. The mere fact that you had to force your way in, would have been enough of a "clue" to most people, but not you, obviously. In most restaurants, the men are stuck with the cleaning jobs, including the lavatories, both of them. I've had to wait to use them while being cleaned, etc. I guess you're special.
As "special" as the education you recieved.

The man was in the ladies room, HOLDING THE DOOR SHUT SO AS TO PREVENT ANYONE FROM ENTERING. Ever think that he may have been the maintenance man, sent into the ladies room to fix a clogged toilet or other problem? You obviously could not take a hint that the ladies room was out of order when you shoved the door open so rudely and forcefully. You really need to get a grip and consider how ridiculous your actions were in this situation.
