Tahiti Marina Apartments And Docks Extremely unpleasant and intrusive management, deposit rip-off Marina Del Rey, California
It seems I am not the only tenant to have had such a terrible experience with Tahiti Marina Apartments. Like the other individual who reported their 'rip-off' I had an almost identical experience. The management and office staff at Tahiti Marina Apartments is unprofessional and incompetent at best, but completely NUTS would be a more accurate description....and this opinion is widely held among tenants at the complex. One day you get a lovey smile and a warm "hello" -- the next day a bitter, nasty demeanor. I believe the condition is called "bi-polar."
They have no concept of the term "customer service" and seem to believe the tenants exist to pay rent while stroking their egos. The carpets are old and filthy, the cupboards in the kitchens and bathrooms in disrepair, the appliances are old and ugly and the baths have seen one too many applications of toxic paint.
If you are looking for a college "dorm" living situation in which the managers and staff are constantly in your face and disrupting your living environment this is the place for you. If you are an adult, looking for a peaceful, quiet and calm environment, there are plenty of other great options in the area. Not a week went by that there wasn't a problem with the plumbing, the elevators, the pools, the gym, the parking lot, etc., etc. The place is basically falling apart -- but don't worry, they will make sure that you foot the bill for their repairs in the form of stolen deposits. They will even steal your deposit if you transfer from one apartment to another.
Then there is the theft. Don't dare to stash your bike in the bike room -- bikes disappear regularly in spite of the security cameras which are apparently only for show.
In terms of amenities -- the "jacuzzi" is uninhabitable. They seem to pour chlorine by the gallon in the tub, which is great if you have no use for skin or vision. The fumes are so bad your eyes burn like fire after just a few minutes.
Did I mention the mold issue? The building has a serious mold problem which quickly appeared in my apartment shortly after I moved in. When reported to the managers, I was told they "didn't smell anything" -- however, it is tough not to notice mold growing on your expensive heels in your bedroom closet. Their solution was to wash with bleach. No investigation of the jungle growing under the floor boards and between the walls.
Sure, the neighborhood is nice and the views of the marina are spectacular, but the complex has an arrogance problem. It thinks it is upscale, when in fact, it just isn't. It is an old overpriced building with a rude staff. Nothing more, nothing less.

(This will be the only response we will file to this "report.")
This tenant clearly had a very negative experience with us and us with her, which unfortunately happens sometimes. We are certain that at some point, there are tenants that under any circumstance will not be appeased. However, we invite any prospective tenant to speak to our tenants directly and find out their opinion about living here. It will make it easier to make your own decision, in regards to what type of community and management Tahiti Marina is known for. Thank you.
