I bought a robe from www.tallexclusives.com but had to return it because it arrived too late for a trip we were planning. Also, the garment's quality and workmanship were extremely shoddy.

The website states that items must be clean and in new condition when they are returned, which is understandable. The return period is very limited and a return authorization number is required.

I was careful to follow the instructions above, even attaching tracking and insurance to my return package since I was already uneasy with the transaction. The robe was shipped to me in a used Kohl's mailing bag! As I suspected, the item was refused and returned to me. Actually, I was surprised that it was returned at all. I had expected to be told that they had not received it, thus the tracking and insurance.

When I phoned the company, the owner's reason for refusal was that the garment was dirty, "nasty", and "covered with animal hair." She also stated that she has photos to back up her claim, but sidestepped my request for copies of those photos. It's obvious that I will never see them, or if I do they will have been "retouched."

Yes, I have a cat. No, the item was not in the deplorable condition she alleged.

The package was returned to me by the post office, marked "Refused." The merchant had opened my package, checked the item and written her refusal on my enclosed return authorization. She then resealed my original package and returned it to the post office marked refused, thereby neatly avoiding paying postage to get it back to me. Hmmm, is that legal? i suspect not!

Due to the merchant's sloppy efforts to reuse my postage, the packaging was ripped, exposing the item to all sorts of contaminents en route back to me. Seems that makes the condition of the item a moot point.

I'm shocked that someone would go to such lengths to avoid giving a refund, and I'm insulted by the merchant's accusations. I went over the entire fleece garment with a lint roller, finding one small fuzz ball, some of my own hair, and several threads apparently from the manufacturing process. That is all I found. When I informed the owner of my findings, she immediately replied that I need glasses! Do you believe that?!

Now, I'm stuck with $80.00 worth of merchandise that is of no use to me. I'm also out the $11.00 it took to ship it back. I'm afraid to try shipping it again, because her return deadline is long past. I'm also convinced I would lose an additional $11.00 in shipping because I'm fairly sure she has no intention of refunding my payment no matter what I do.

What I want: The full purchase price ($80.90) of the item and my original return postage of $11.20.

Hiding behind store policy, not addressing issue

Yes, the merchant has a "clean and in new condition" store policy, I don't dispute that. What I AM disputing is that my garment was not in the condition she alleges. It appears that she is using one white fuzz ball and a few strands of my hair as reasons to keep my money. Took me a few seconds to find and remove them. Still need my $80.90 paid for the item and the $11.20 I spent to return it to her refunded. Additionally, she used my wrapping and postage to "Return to Sender" the item back to me after opening and checking it. According to the USPS, this is not legal and completely unethical.

Re: Complaint from Carol Eaton, Bosque Farms, NM

From: Store Owner - We apologize in advance for our store policy, to anyone who would like to purchase from our store.  Our store policy clearly states "items must be returned in new original condition".  We do not accept returns that are dirty, stained, used, worn and have excessive amounts of pet hair and/or human hair.  We also always include a email reminder "to return in its original new condition" policy to anyone requesting to return, along with the return address and RA number. We are not sure why, but for some reason "return in its new original condition" policy always gets overlooked by the one returning.

If you are not a store owner, you probably do not agree with our return policy and what a big overwhelming problem messy and used returns are for merchants.  Once again, we apologize for our store policy and it remains the same.  Please feel free to call us and ask for manager, if you have concerns or worries about our store or policy.

The New Jersey Better Business Bureau just emailed me that mail to Tall Exclusives is being returned. They said the company is apparently out of business.

When I checked the Internet, I was rerouted through tallexclusives.com to their altered site, Tall Terrifics. Same merchant, same site, just another name. Big ripoff! Still waiting for refund.
