If you are willing to sue, why wouldn't you just sue the person who is making these allegedly defaming posts? If, as you say, they are not true, then that would appear to be the easier target. The Communications Decency Act provides protections to websites against suits due to comments posted by a third party and courts have upheld those protections. Basically, they tell you that you should sue the person who actually posted the remarks, rather than the website that hosted the posting. That seems logical as no one running this site has said anything about you at all. They are just a communication medium.

Initially, I filed a rebuttal to this sixth posting by the woman in question over the course of the last six years. It is apparent that the story changes over time and that the postings are there just to attempt to cost me money, ruin my reputation and to annoy and harass me. Unfortunately, laws governing cyberstalking have not caught up to this type of harassment as I am powerless to prosecute this woman at this time. Sites like this one are very interesting "animals." They set themselves up and state that they will not remove anything, and that is their claim to fame. They then have threats deterring individuals like myself from suing them for defamation of character, and they list all the actions brought against them by everyone else, and claim that these individuals have lost. Whether this is true or not, I am not willing to invest the time in determining this answer.
What is true is that this site and other sites offer ways to "repair one's reputation" and they all charge large sums of money. It is my opinion that the reason these sites do not remove these postings is that they are in the "grey" area legally and they make money by allowing others to defame character and then pay them or other affiliates to repair character claims.
In my opinion this is predatory. The woman who makes these claims stated many years ago that as long as she is alive she will cost me money, and I would guess that she probably has. As a business owner, I get much of my business from the internet and when people Google my name, the ripoffreport.com sites have high rankings and often the first few postings contain the allegations of this woman.
She continues to post and she continues to click on the links and have others click on the link and this too adds to web ranking. Web ranking is what causes the site to come up high in the results for my name.
Despite this, I have a lucrative business and maintain my reputation.
In the past individuals who have known me for 30 years plus and others who are recent friends and acquaintances or business colleagues have rebutted the claims of this woman.
We have all decided that we will not waste our time anymore as she is hell bent on continuing this vindictive course of conduct.
I will continue to live by a reputation I have built over time and ignore all of these allegations.
If you follow the six year thread of postings it will be apparent that this woman rants and raves and changes her story each and every time.
I leave it to you as the reader to determine the validity of these reports and if you choose to allow this to affect your trust in me as a potential service provider that will be your choice. If not, I will be happy to serve you.

This woman continues to make new claims about old allegations and changes them every few months. Her goal is to get high search engine ranking so that people do not hire me. If you search my name, Carol Sciannameo or Tampa Bay Investigations, you will find all the years of claims, and as they change over time. I believe they are self explanatory.
