I made a bad mistake when I went to the Target store West in Huntsville, AL (where I used to shop frequently) to have the dead battery in my Armitron wristwatch replaced.

The clerk who did this evidently was totally unprepared for this job, because, after replacing the battery, she had a hard time closing up the watch, and finally took a press-type gadgetand shattered the crystal of the watch!

I requested that she replace the crystal free of charge, and her response was: We don't do this kind of thing. I asked for the manager, and an Assistant Manager finally came after quite a whileand he too informed me: We don't do this kind of thingyou gotta go to a Jewelry store! He tried to swap my $45 watch for a 12.95 Timex watch which I refused. My idea is: you break it, you fix it! So it seems it is Target's policy: if the clerk breaks somethingtough luck for the customer.

Things got worse. Today, Saturday, I set out to find a jewelry store to replace the crystal. The first three stores had the same refrain We don't do that kind of thing! At least the third store steered me to a store that did this kind of thing. Arrived there, I was told they could indeed do it, at a cost of $35.00 plus tax ($37.80)but it would take four weeks!

So, I went and bought a cheapo watch (from Wal-Mart--not from Target!) for $13 incl. Tax since I cannot run around without a watch for four weeks.

Thus, the incompetence of your clerk cost me not only $50.80but also approx. 50 miles of drivingat today's gas prices!
