We had our address changed without our knowledge to an address in Riverside, California 92503. We have lived in the same hoouse since 1965 on Adair Ave., Riverside, Ca. I called to report this to Target and asked that they make sure they had corrected the information. To date I have received two offers from credit card company (Capital one (vista) and Master Card at the Cypress Street Address. The only way this could have occurred is through the Retailers Bank where our charge card with Target is sent.

I am afraid dthat someone will send in for these cards without my knowledge and ruin our credit. Please help. Mrs. Bandt

Target did nothing to initiate the offers from other credit card companies. More than likely, your address was changed at one of the three major credit reporting agencies (Equifax, Experian, and/or TransUnion.)

Creditors purchase information from these companies about qualifying consumers in order to send them offers such as you received. The information purchased includes the address. If the address has been changed at the credit reporting agency, that is the address they receive.

Your first concern should be contacting all three credit reporting agencies and ensuring that someone hasn't compromised your credit information. It is possible that someone has obtained your personal information and used that information along with a new address to fraudulently obtain credit.
