I filed my 2009 income taxes online with Tax Brain. I filed on 01-16-2010. The IRS excepted on 01-17-2010. I was informed by the IRS that my refund would go direct deposit on 01-29-2010. On 01-29-2010 the IRS rep that I spoke to confirmed that my direct deposit had been sent. I then spoke with Santa Barbara Bank & Trust who notified me that Tax Brain submitted the wrong bank account information to the IRS. With that being done SBBT notified me that my funds went direct deposit to Republic Bank in Kentucky. I was also told by SBBT that Republic Bank would have to send the funds back to the IRS and that SBBT would no longer be handling my refund, because this was a mix up with Tax Brain. SBBT referred me back to Tax Brain who is not talking to anyone, returning email messages, and just have generic messages that pop up on their live chat, as well as email. Tax Brain keeps referring me back to SBBT and the IRS website. I called Republic Bank and have confirmed that my funds are there and they can not process the funds at this time (automated message). Tax Brain has really dropped the ball, because well over a thousand people have been affected by this. Now I am being told that when my funds go back to the IRS I will have to wait for a paper check to be mailed to me. I know something can be done about this.
