I would like to add my horrifying experience to the many others on Rip off report, and also I saw a similar experience in the recent AARP magazine to mine. I was contacted by IRS about 12k in the year 2002, and I didn't know what to do or where to turn, and like they say,, ON TV, I saw their commercial and called them up. Making a long story short, I agreed via FAX to pay 1350.00 in advance and then a contract payment of 550.00 for two months and also gave them POA to deal with IRS and provided information immediately since IRS was in the process of garnishing my Bank Account, aside from the fact that I am social security recipient on disability.

They took SO LONG in responding to IRS, two months from the time I contacted them, and gave them my POA, that IRS proceeded to garnish 5k and another 1K from my accounts. I fired taxmasters that day, and retracted my POA legally with the IRS and asked for a refund. Taxmasters WERE two months behind IRS, if you can believe anyone can be slower than the IRS from the time of notice to the time of garnishment, and I finally went to the local IRS office here in Virginia.

Meantime Taxmaster refused my refund to this date, even though Bank of America had "refunded" my account Taxmasters actually had the nerve to say they provided services, (paperwork two months late) and Bank of America then took back my refund. Bank of America did refuse to allow Taxmasters to "get more" from my Credit Card, since they knew that IRS had garnished my Bank of America account

So I am still garnished, for the 6k, and adding insult to injury, 1350.00 stolen as far as I am concerned by Taxmasters,, explaining how they can afford those expensive commercials.

I have been meant to post this for a while, and now IRS has forwarded my case to the HQ (P.S.: the IRS agents in Pennsylvania lied too and I am filing reports with the Justice Dept) for real ,, now

I thought I would have my own for REAL mini Tea Party and expose Tax Masters for the charlatons they are.. and PLEASE anyone .. who reads this DON"T use Taxmasters,, find a local attorney,, in your area where you live to help with IRS--where you can meet with them face to face and monitor your information personally. I have decided that I will deal with IRS myself at this point.
Happy April 15th, 2009 and POX on Patrick Cox, Tax-ex-Master

The REAL Tax Masters of America

#2REBUTTAL Owner of company

Tue, December 01, 2009

Having just received a call from an attorney representing a justifiably disgruntled client of another accountant doing business as Taxmasters, a company name which closely resembles mine but located in Atlanta, GA, I subsequently decided to peruse the internet in an attempt to find out who is tarnishing the name of Tax Masters of America.  It was then that I discovered this website and that there's yet another culprit equally causing dissatisfaction while representing themselves as Tax Masters but located in Houston, TX.

I feel an obligation to protect the integrity of my company's name with the simple statement that neither I, nor any of my affiliates or employees have had anything to do with this situation, the accountant in Houston TX, nor the individual from Atlanta, GA, both representing themselves as Taxmasters.  I have no idea who Mr. Cox is and he never has nor ever will be (after reading your report) associated with my company.

As President, and a Veteran of the United States Air Force, having also attended the Air Force Academy and instilled very high moral and ethical values, would never tolerate the complete disregard you apparently experienced from anyone involved with my organization.  I feel very sorry for you and any others out there who have placed your trust in any accountant, in need of help with the complexities of our cumbersome tax code, only to be ignored.  Whether it be laziness or willful disregard for fiduciary responsibility, it is truly a shame that your trust was violated.

Should you or anyone else need any further help in dealing with the IRS or simply preparing your taxes with minimal tax exposure while still maximizing your refund please do not hesitate to contact Tax Masters of America.  I will handle your case personally in order to ensure you are properly taken care of and the damage done by any other accountant's lack of attentiveness be fully corrected, in the hopes that the good will in the name Tax Masters of America can be restored.

THank you,
Jason Gouldon
