In early Feb of 2010 I contacted Tax Masters to discuss them helping me in resolving some tax issues. The rep I spoke explained the steps they would take, the cost, and he would send the forms and contract I needed to sign. After the call I read some of the reviews on this company and was shocked. I called them back (within 30 minutes) and told them I had decided not to hire them. I also called my bank and had my account frozen against any incoming charges. The rep at tax masters confirmed they had received my decision not to go forward by calling me the next day and asking why I had decided not to hire them? I stated I had decided to use someone local. He told me that if I changed my mind, to call back. I considered the matter closed. I left the hold on my bank account for two weeks and then had it lifted. Two weeks after that on March 12th of 2010, tax masters withdrew 912.00 from my account. Numberous phone calls to them always resulted in them transferring me to what they refer to as their "Quality Assurance" department which would never pick up the phone or return my voice messages. The day they withdrew the money from my account I faxed this department and asked for my money back. On April 02 2010 I received a letter from them stating that because the conversation between myself and their Representative had been verified by a third party that it was a legal contract and in their view I owe them all the money that was discussed (almost 3,000). I have signed nothing with Tax Masters nor has Tax Masters done anything on my behalf other than the initial consultation which their website describes as FREE. At the advice of my company's legal department I am reaching out to you folks as well as the Texas state Attorney General and one of my congressional representatives who is an old Marine as well. If there is anthing else you can recommed I do to recover money which I feel was wrongly taken from me please let me know. Thank you.
