I was married in September 2004. I made my first payment installment in April of 2004 and the final payment in August 2004.

The videographer showed up to the wedding and did a wonderful job of taping our special day. We have pictures of him doing his job.

I began emailing Taylor Hayden directly on Nov. 14, 2004 inquiring about my videos. I was first told that he was going through a rough time and that his fiance left him. In Dec. 2004 I contacted him once again and this time I was told that he had been robbed.

My emails continued every few weeks to no avail. He told me that "Videographers work is non-refundable" and I could just try suing him. This is a brief explanation that he gave me in an email: "I have not avoided you or your emails, written you back every time within an hour. We are not scaming you.Why in the world would we show up and film your entire wedding and reception then not pass it onto you?You make no sense. It's only been 4 months (less) once you have them you will watch them mabye twice in you life time."

Another email he sent: I will be honest and tell you what happened. My ex-girlfriend stole the money I was going to pay the Videographer with. So,it took me several months to make the money back to pay him,now he's taking his sweet time to mail me the videos. I just called him and gave him up to 2 weeks to get me the videos or I would give my lawyer, AND you all his contact information.
That's just the truth,so we will see what happens. Your videos are fine, it's just a matter of me getting them now, please,if you don't hear from me within 2 weeks, contact me again and I will take it to the next step.
Thanks,God bless.

The previous email was sent to me on 4/24/05. I was verbally accousted by him numerous times after that and this was the last email that I received from him on 5/31/05: Ok Heather,I paid your Videographer in full and have proff of paying him.He was supposed to send me the videos to send you and has not done this,I contacted him and he did not return my calls. I will turn you on him.You may ned to have him served legal papers. I am not in posession of the videos,he is and the law states that Posession IS 9/10ths of the law. His info : Darryl Russel 536 Sioux Trail Rossford,Ohio 43460 phone : 419-297-3345

I contacted Darryl and was told that he would send me the videos then he just up and dissappeared. I did file a complaint against the company through the IFFFBI.

I have never heard from Taylor Hayden again. Every day that passes takes me further and further from my video. There are so many memories in that video that I have lost. My grandpa was in the video...he died a few months later. That was his only trip to my home.

It is amazing what this man has done and seems to continue to do. He stole from me in more ways than one.

Further documentation that Hayden Wedding Videos is a scam

#5Consumer Comment

Mon, April 20, 2009

I believe this man Hayden is running a scam, advertising wedding videography yet making his money by selling his wedding video demos. I do not believe he has any intention of actually videotaping a wedding. I bit the bait and requested a demo, assuming he was located in CA where the emagazine Videomaker (where I found the ad) was located; however, there was no address on his web site. I requested the wedding demo and as charged $17.

When I emailed Hayden thanking him for sending the demo promptly, I informed him that the demo was defective and wouldn't play on my laptop. Rather than offering to send me another one (it is not that uncommon for DVDs to have an error and I didn't think too much about it), he gave me a rude response and immediately said he didn't give refunds, which I never requested. Apparently, he has had requests for refunds before.

I have copied the emails back and forth below so that you can see the lack of customer service. Out of my 3 DVD players, I found only one that played the video and quickly surmised why he had not even bothered to put a label on it. It was horrible -- just some very poor resolution video put on a DVD with little or no editing -- I suspect the latter. The envelope didn't even have cardboard to protect the disk -- just something thrown in there and sent so he could say he provided the demo and keep the money. No one in their right mind would hire him to video their wedding after watching such an incredibly bad wedding video -- and this was his demo! His total cost of production was no doubt under $3. Not a bad profit margin.

I believe he deliberately neglects to put an address on his web site and return mail so that no one would know where he was located. He could not offer $500 wedding videos to people in CA if he was located in Boston -- no return address on the demo so I still don't know where he operates from.

I'd hate for anyone else to be ripped off like I was. He had his ad on Videomaker Magazine which is reputable and I contacted them about the scam. They could find no ad in their e-magazine and I checked -- it was a rotating Google Ad. Who knows how many people from all over the US are taken in by him? The irony is he had a place on his web site to order an on-line demo yet charged shipping. I asked him about that --- no response.

See the emails below --- he has a lot of chutzpah!
