A $600 rebate for a Viewsonic N2700W TV was offered by Viewsonic, and processed by TCA. The rebate states that you must send in the original UPC along with a sales receipt showing that the TV was bought at a nationwide retailer.

Here is a copy of the rebate offer taken off TCA's website.

Offer Number: 22147
Promotion: VIEWSONIC N2700w REBATE
Required product(s): N2700w UPC 766907946413
Valid Purchase Dates:
11/24/2004 through 11/28/2004
Award Amount: $600
Must be postmarked by: 12/28/2004
Valid Retailers: NATIONWIDE

Due to the vagueness of "Nationwide". I called TCA to confirm who exactly is considered a "nationwide retailer". I spoke to Violet, a supervisor with badge ID 292, and she said that "major chain stores such as COMPUSA, Fry's, Office Max, etc." would be valid. The first store she mentioned that this rebate would be valid for is COMPUSA.

She also said that only a TV bought at a smaller "mom and pop shop" would not be acceptable for the rebate. All national chain stores would be valid.

I bought this TV at CompUSA as instructed by Violet, filled out the rebate form, and sent in my ORIGINAL UPC along with a copy of my sales receipt.

I checked my rebate status today and saw that it had been denied because it was: "NOT PURCHASED AT PARTICIPATING STORE\COMPUSA" and also noticed that TCA had changed the original rebate details to show strange stores (A1APPLIANCE, ALEXANDEAYS, ATCHLEYTV, AVAC, BIGSANDYSUPERSTORE, BLACKBURNAPPLIANCE, C&DTV, DIRECTAPPLIANCE, FIRSTCHOICE, GIFFORDTV, HYPERTECH, KINEAPPLIANCE, MCNEALS, MORRISFURNITURE, OLUMS, RAPERSRENTTOOWN, ROSASSUPERSTORE, SERVEXELECTRONICS, STEREOJUNCTION, STUCKYBROS, TAYLORSFURNITURE, VIDEOSTATION, WALTSTV) to be the qualifying stores. These stores are definitely not nationwide and many do not even carry the TV.

Viewsonic's own rebate form is here: This form still shows that the rebate was for all nationwide retailers.

TCA seems to be trying to avoid paying out the rebate.

I have retained photocopies of the rebate form, receipt, and UPC code of the TV.
Thank you
