I have been a teller for 4 years (NOT at TCF Bank!) I know bank policy and TCF does NOT follow it. Banks are supposed to protect their CUSTOMERS, not be deceptive, lie and cheat them. They give out your balance to anyone, the have no one working there who is over 25 (always teenagers), they do not dispute THEIR mistakes and if you are lucky enough to get them to they never follow through.

They put holds on items and do not notify you until days after. Most holds are done in the processing dept. and they generate the notices. I have had them stamp "Account Closed" on one of my checks before to a lawyer and I had to Western Union the money...they said "We're Sorry" and did not refund my WU fees for THEIR mistake. I was told "your acct. is not closed.." well, DUH!! Your mistake caused me to spend $12.50 and you just say SORRY??! In banking the deposits are supposed to be put through THEN do the debits.

I do not believe this to be true of TCF. They do take out all ATM fees at once and it ususally is more than expected and draws your acct. into the negative and is usually done when you just happen to have not enough in the acct! (anyone notice that?) You could have $5 in your acct and the fees of $7 will come out...there's another $32 in charges! They are so sneaky...they do things to get the NSF charges.

They must have the most money in fees from any bank in the entire world. Everyone there has a different answer, no one knows policies and they sure are not out to protect "The Customer." They NEED the customer to get their Fees! Not earn us interest and help us. Also, their online is a JOKE! Never up to date and it will NOT tell you if an item is held so don't go by it or the automated line...you need to talk to a person. TCF is the epitome of the worst bank.

Rich, poor, careless, smart, young, old and anything in between. TRUST ME when I tell you that MORE THAN HALF of the people who opened bank accounts never read the brochures.

Did anyone else notice that Andrea works at ANOTHER bank??

Why is she complaining? A little odd don't you think??

How would she know what goes on at TCF, does she have an account there, and if she does why doesn't she have one where she works???

Im an ex-employee of TCF Bank where I worked for 5 years. I started there at 17 and by 19 I was a d**n good supervisor. I received merits and thanks from TCF and CUSTOMERS. I had my own set of customers who I would help on an almost daily basis.

I can tell you that I saw all kinds of people there.

Rich, poor, careless, smart, young, old and anything in between. TRUST ME when I tell you that MORE THAN HALF of the people who opened bank accounts never read the brochures. Most of the problems were solved when I explained the bank policy to the customer. People don't bother to read all of the info necessary to grasp a working knowledge of the bank where they keep their dollars, in some cases millions.

I have seen a lot of scenarios both when I worked there and now. Sometimes people make mistakes and miscalculations. A lot of times they forget. But most of the time it is something so small that it can be easily solved. I never had problems then and I don't have problems now. I just know how to manage my money.

And about the fees... a bank is a business. If its going to pay employees and maintain its properties it has to generate revenue. Check with your bank to see if they have similar practices for collecting funds. If not, maybe you should apply somewhere else because they are going to fail or be bought out. I hear they are hiring at TCF. Oh wait, you're probably older than 25. d**n, too old.

Hey Andrea maybe you should sit down and read the brochures in their entirety, not just look at the pretty pictures. Holds, fees and NSF charges are among the few things listed in the literature they give you when you open an account... you do know what an account is don't you?? You may think you know bank policy but it differs from bank to bank just in case you didn't know.

One last thing. I had some of the brightest people working for me and guess what... they were under 25. On top of that, they worked harder, better, faster, made less mistakes and had more positive feedback than the senior tellers. And why are you still a teller after four years??????????????????

I have NO problems with TCF

I have been a TCF customer since I was 14 years old, over 10 years. When I was a teenager, I bounced ONE check and TCF covered the check and took care of the NSF charges. If you are responsible with your money, then you shouldn't have a problem.

The last account that I had, I noticed I was getting like $7.00 a month in ATM fees, but I have since changed the type of account I have and my fees average around $3.00 a month.

And my ATM fees were only taken out once per month. Everyone that I have dealt with has been very friendly and have always been able to answer my questions. When I got my new account, the CSR that helped me pulled out the brochure on that account and went through everything to be sure I understood.

And WHY would it matter that no one is over 25, do you think people under 25 are not capable of doing a good job? I am a 25 year old Office Manager for a land surveying company and you better believe I do a dam good job. Age has nothing to do with it.

I don't know how old you are, but it seems like you can't keep track of your own money, why should you expect a bank to do it for you???

Ok, if you ever got promoted from just a teller, you'd know what a services & prices brochure is. It explains all the fees! We give you that info to read, not throw away! Know how your bank works! I am only 22 and a manager of a TCF branch, I am apalled at you saying nobody is over 25! I am a good person and a good manager, do NOT say I am not good because I am only 22. Thank You!
