TCF Bank ripoff Overdraft fees Milwaukee Wisconsin
I had a checking account closed because of overdraft fees. I assumed I could have been overdrawn by about $100.00. At the end of the month, they billed me approx $529.00. I contacted the bank for a better statement because the statement did not provide when the overdrafts occurred. It simply listed on the second page of the statement that i was overdrawn.
The account has been closed since 2002. I have called TCF bank, I have written letters to the coporate office, and lastly I went into my local office. No one has been able to tell me what happened on my account.
Most statements have a running balance column, but TCF's statements apparently does not. The respresentative could not make out their own statments. How can I they apply charges to your account if they cannot tell you the balance on your account on a given day.
I honestly do not mind paying the bill, but i cannot see how i could have raked up $500.00 in overdraft fees.... actually I would have throught the account would have automatically closed if it had reached $100.00.
Any advice would be helpful. Also, i cannot image i am the only person that this has happened to. I have a BA in business and I have had accounting classes, now if i do not understand their statements, i am wondering what everybody else is doing. Are they just paying the bill? Regardless, I think this smells of deceit on TCF's part and I would not mind being a party of a class action suite in regards to the statement they send out to customers.

I at one time, had a account with TCF, and my overdraft fees were approximately 500.00 too, I just paid them, because like you said, because the accounts dont have a running balance.
They did close our account, and a year later, I opened another one, and started over.
