On Thursday April 13,06 my husband and I went to Team Hillsdale Chrysler Dodge Jeep because we received a flier in the mail telling us that we could get $4000. off one of their liquidation vehicles. Which if you read all the fine print on the bottom it said that in order to receive the $4000. off the vehicle had to cost more than $12,000. So after reading that my husband thought he would take me up there and get me the Jeep Liberty that I have been wanting for the past 2 years.

Anyways, once we got there we started talking to a dealer(his name is Dan) and after looking around at a couple of Ford Rangers we went to the Jeep Liberty's. I found a 2004 black Jeep Liberty that I really liked. So, Dan took my husband and I inside to figure out what the price was. I guess Dan had to let his boss figure out the price, so Dan went and got the Jeep so my husband and I could test drive it. Once we got back Dan asked if we was interested in taking it home that day. My husband told him yes if the price was right.

Thats where we get to the problem. After sitting there for about 15 minutes Dan finally got us a price and it was $26,000. Dan's boss said that he knows that is what we could buy a brand new 2006 Jeep Liberty for but he would knock the $4000. off of it and that would make it only $22,000. Well my husband and I looked at each other and said No. Then he tried to sell me a 2001 Jeep Cherokee for $9,000. Which we did not want a Jeep Cherokee.

We knew that we could pick up a 2004 Jeep Liberty for around $12,000 to $14,000. So once I got home from the dealers I got on the internet to look around at some other 2004 Jeep Liberty's. I went to Yahoo Autos and low and behold I found the 2004 Jeep Liberty that I just test drove(same miles and VIN #) for $13,800. It was also listed under the same dealers name (Hillsdale Team Chrysler Dodge Jeep). My husband called Dan up and told him what we found. Dan asked my husband for the VIN #. So, my husband gave it to him and Dan verified that it was the same VIN# as the one we just drove. Dan then told my husband that he does not like being made into a liar and that he was going to talk to his boss about it and call us back. After 4 hours of no calls,my husband called Dan back, to have Dan tell us that that was the sale price on the Liberty and that he would honor the $13,800. price but he would not give us the $4000. voucher off of that price.

Of course we told him again No and that was a bunch of bull. I called the head Chrysler company today and all they could say was they are sorry that this happened and they would write up a report on it. The reason I am writing this report up is because I think everyone should really do your research before you go to a car dealer. It is obvious that if my husband had not done his homework on how much this vehicle cost then we would have been out over $9000. I think that everyone should be aware that a Liquidation Sale does not always mean cheaper. Also Buyer Beware when you are dealing with this company in particular. I have dealt with other car dealers and never ran into this problem. So it is a new one for me. I still do not have my Liberty.

Team Hillsdale Chrysler Dodge Jeep Wasted My Time Again

Ok on 4-19-04 I received an email from Dan at Team Hillsdale Chrysler Dodge Jeep. This is what his email said exactly

Michelle,
I am writing you concerning your interest in the Jeep Liberty we have here at Team HIllsdale Chrysler. We hope you are still interested in this vehicle. Please fell free to e-mail me at beckmandw@yahoo.com or call at (517) 437-3394. Now that the sale is over, and we are back to normal operations I would love for you to come back in so we can sit down with my sales manager and see if we can come to a price you will love. I hope to hear from you so we can set up an appointment. Thank you for your interest in doing business with us.
Sincerely,
Dan

So, I go in there today 4-24-06 and expect to get a good deal.Which I was hoping that I could trade my husbands 1999 Ford Ranger in that we just bought on 4-18-06. Sense we just bought the Ranger we no longer had a lump sum like we had the first time we were in Team Hillsdale Chrysler Dodge Jeep. After getting there we told them that we would need to trade the Ranger in on the deal plus we had some cash. They looked over the Ranger and test drove it. We sat there about 20 minutes waiting for them to give us a price.

They came out and gave us a price of $15,000 and some(which it was still sitting on Yahoo Auto for $13,800). They said that they would give it to me for the $15,000 minus $4000. for the Ranger. Which that brought the price down to $11,000. and some. I then started to get upset again because of them trying to sell it to me for the $15000. starting price. I told him that that was a joke because they have it sitting on Yahoo Autos for $13,800. He asked me to show him were it was and I did. So they said that they would honor that price and give me the $4000. off of the Ranger. That brings the price down to $9800. We then asked him if we had $8500. would he take that and he said no he would not.

So, again today I went back in there to make a deal with him and he still tried to stiff me Again. They still would not give me the $4000. voucher that I had that day. So,I will never deal with them again no matter how many emails I get from them.

But not all dealers are bad I bought my husbands Ford from a awesome dealer in Defiance,Ohio Integrity Chrysler Jeep Dodge. Which Team Hillsdale Chrysler Dodge Jeep said that Integrity is a wholesale lot and they like dealing with cash. So we asked the guy at Team Hillsdale Chrysler Dodge Jeep if he liked dealing in cash and he said that he would rather not deal in cash. Because every person that he gets financed through the bank he gets money from the bank for securing the loans. So again another wasted morning trying to deal with a dealer that is not willing to make things right. They email me to get my hopes up and then to just shoot them down. Still No Liberty Again. Buyers Really Beware with this company.

I Told You So

I posted about this last week. People who are smart enough to do their homework, all of it, on the internet, BEFORE they go to a car dealer will pay substantially less then some poor fool who just walks in there blind and stupid. Car dealers hate internet shoppers. Why do you think they try and keep the internet shoppers as far away from the regular shoppers as they can? I know one dealer who has a mobile home "out back" of his dealership just for the internet buyers. He pays his internet guy a flat $50-$75 a vehicle. But that's all the guy does, sit in the mobile home and answer e-mails. He then turns the customer over to finance and he's done. If he sells 3 or 4 vehicles a day, 5-6 days a week, he does alright for himself.

As I said, I contacted dealers within a 250 mile radius and let them fight it out for my business. You can go to Kelley blue book or Edmund's and get real prices on vehicles. what you ought to pay for them without being ripped off. Check on rebates and incentives. Most importantly, the values of used cars. Same went for financing a vehicle.
