I am a single Mom and in April 2005 I purchased a certified vehicle from Team Toyota. Before I even had the vehicle a month, the caliper went!!! Almost caught on fire!! It was under warranty but I still asked if I could get something different because I felt the vehicle was not safe. They said I would have to start from scratch, they would not exchange, or help, but they WOULD make me buy another one, even though I was now upside down with my current auto. Of course I could not afford this option. Team Toyota fixed the caliper and a few months later, I had more brake problems!!! Once again I had to take the truck back and they were down right nasty!! Again I told them the vehicle is not safe and I can't justify paying over $400.00 a month for a vehicle that keeps braking down.

They still refused to exchange the vehicle. A few months later I was told that I needed a new clutch, of course now NOT covered under warranty. By December 2005, I could not take it anymore and I was also tired of fighting with Team Toyota. I volunteered the vehicle back on 12/24/05, yes, Xmas Eve, very humbling experience but I had to do it.

Now, 4 months later, 4/23/06, Sunday at 11:30 at night, a REPO MAN was banging on my door!! I am a single Mom, live alone and at that time of night, I was scared!!! The man demanded me to come outside, I refused and he damanded again. He said he was there to pick up the truck, I told him I turned it in in Dec 2005 and should check his records. The man demanded the truck again and opened up my screen door!!!! Surviving a horrible experience 10 yrs ago, the man sent me into an extreme panic!!! I though he was going to break into my house and I threatened to call the cops. He finally left and I called Toyota Financial ASAP!!

Because it was Sunday, I had to wait until Monday morn. I did not sleep all night afraid that man might come back again. In the am on Monday, I called Toyota Fiancial and they said they had no record from Team Toyota that I turned in the vehicle. I went to the dealership on Rt1 in Langhorne and was very angry!! I asked to speak to the Manager and the man refused to speak to me because I was raising my voice. I then asked to speak to his manager, who was sitting in his office. He had his back to me, didn't even turn around and said,"what's the problem"? I went into his office because he did not have the decency to stand up and acknowledge me. I started telling him why I was mad and that he neeeded to call Toyota Financial to rectify the situation and he also refused to help me because I was raising my voice. I told the man I was extremely upset and he would just have one ounce of sympathy and compassion for me, I would be willing to talk lower. I started to tell him again and he started to laugh at me. Don't know about you but that is enough to make anyone else angry!!

Since he refused to listen to me, I told him i would contact my Attorney and he said "good" and as I was walking out, he called me "a Wack Job"!!! Right in front of all the other salesmen in the building. I turned around and said "What!!" I got his name and his bosses name. I was now very furious!! I called his boss and again, sorry maam, nothing we can do!!!!! How disrespectful!!!! The kicker, my truck was sitting on their own lot!!!!!! Team Toyota did not do thier own part to notify Toyota Financial!!! I would think that any manager who hears this situation would bend over backwards appologizing about the mixup, appologize for a REPO man coming to my house at 11:30 at night on a Sunday and embarrassing me with his repo truck infront of my neighbors house and yelling at me through my home door when all this was due to negligence on Team Toyota's part!!!

Obviously no one cares at Team Toyota!!!!! I will NEVER recommend them to anyone!!!!! If anyone else had this similar experience, let me know!!!!

But more than once you were asked to lower your voice and explain the problem, to which you mention you raised you voice even more.

The worst thing to do when you want ANY company to work with you is to yell at them.

Yes, I understand the frustration and that it is hard to remain calm, but you go in ranting like a lunatic and that is exactly how you will be treated.

Thank you Dave, any help on this issue I can benefit from is accepted. They were the best mechanics in the area. If they should not be working, we are all in trouble!!! he he Thank you though. :)

Again, it's not their fault

No, I am not nor ever have been an car salesman. But, still, this isn't their fault. Just because a car needs brakes and clutch doesn't make it a lemon. The mechanic that told you it was a lemon should NOT be fixing cars for a living. You bought a USED car, you should get it checked out by a qualified mechanic before buying any used car. Then, those pesky brakes and clutch problems will be diagnosed before purchasing the car.

That is for next time. Nothing you can do this time.

Thank you Dave from Canada for that info. I did exactly what Toyota Financial told me to do. It's just a shame that this country has come to a bunch of sissy name calling and disrepsect these days. Seems it's easiser these days to call someone a name and get defensive rather than handle the situation with the respect and dignity consumers deserve.

There are still some of us who believe in actually "listening" to the consumer, (even if they are angry, they just might have a legit complaint). I do have to admit, Toyota Financial was wonderful on the phone with me and I spoke to about 6 different people. All of those employees agreed that Team Toyota handled the situation unfairly. Regardless of what the situation should be, they agreed no one deserves to be spoken to that way. Some people just don't seem to have the same values that we had a long time ago.

As for those who value repsect and dignity the way I do, THANK YOU. If you don't, then we are just from diffent upbringing and may never see eye to eye. Thank you for the responses whether good or bad.

Dave, sounds like you may have worked at Team Toyota. There is more to the story. I understand normal maintenance, I took my truck to 3 different mechanincs, they all said that if that kind of wear and tear happened that quick, dump the vehicle. You're also right, I bit off way more than I could chew, especially for a truck that was in the shop or not working most of the time. Thank you for your comment Dave.

You are complaining about brakes and a clutch, which is normal maintenance on any vehicle, and then you say because of that you had to turn the car in??? Please, you bit off more than you can chew, and couldn't afford it. IF you can't afford standard maintenance, then you shouldn't be driving.

There's probably a lot more to this story than you are letting on, but I agree with the dealer, you're a whack job!

Team Toyota is not Toyota Financial

#11Consumer Suggestion

Mon, April 24, 2006

Once a car leaves the dealership, they rarely have anything to do with the financing. From their point of view, every sale or lease is a cash sale. The dealer sells the car to a finance company who then wants payments from you.

You should have turned in the vehicle to a Toyota Financial rep, not the dealership. That might have helped avoid any further dealings with Team Toyota. They sound like avoiding them is a good idea.

The "Repo Man" was sent by Toyota Financial. If another calls, you should just say "fine. The truck is parked at this address." and give Team Toyota's address.
